Pinto propels Lawrence
Marcos Pinto's 35-yard field goal in the third quarter gave host Lawrence a nine-point lead in its 23-22 win over previously undefeated Lynbrook in Nassau Conference III football Saturday.
Mike Kozlakowski's 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter and Paul Magloire's two-point conversion run brought Lynbrook (6-1) within a point. Samson Bialostock was 13-for-18 passing for 280 yards and two touchdowns, including a 70-yarder to Tyler Fredericks in the second quarter to gave Lawrence (5-2) a 20-14 lead. Also for Lawrence, Ryan Fredericks ran 23 times for 130 yards and a touchdown, he caught two passes for 30 yards, and he made an interception on defense. Teammate Seddrik Ervin had three receptions for 77 yards and score.
Glen Cove 27, Carle Place-Wheatley 20: Pietro LaFortezza broke a tie at 20 with 5 minutes, 17 seconds left in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard TD run for Glen Cove (4-3) to cap a five-play, 53-yard drive. John Hyland's 10-yard scoring run with 6:28 to play tied the game for Carle Place-Wheatley (4-3), but Ronnie Rant blocked the ensuing extra-point attempt. LaFortezza ran 15 times for 54 yards and three touchdowns. Glen Cove's Frank Gaudio blocked a punt and had two tackles for a loss, and Shaheem Lilly rushed for 144 yards on 12 carries. Andrew Dickson threw two TDs for Carle Place-Wheatley.
Bethpage 27, Plainedge 20: Nick Loverde scored the tying and winning touchdowns for Bethpage (5-2). Loverde gave the Golden Eagles the lead for good on a 72-yard TD run with 9 minutes remaining. Ralph Caccavale ran for two TDs for Plainedge (4-3).
Sewanhaka 46, Manhasset 21: Brian Wint rushed for 201 yards and five TDs on 11 carries for Sewanhaka (6-1), which had three 100-yard runners for the second consecutive week. Shireem Cobb had 128 yards and a TD on 13 carries and Keenan Woods had 100 yards and a TD on eight carries. Cobb also had an interception and a fumble recovery. Manhasset is 3-4.
Hewlett 56, South Side 0: Alex Kahn was 4-for-5 passing for 123 yards and two TDs and he rushed three times for 58 yards and a score for Hewlett (5-2). Sam Martorella rushed for 44 yards and a score, caught two passes for 65 yards and a TD and forced a fumble. Mark Rizzo rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns. South Side is 1-6.
West Hempstead 34, Division 14: Justin Boatwright ran for 126 yards and two TDs for West Hempstead (3-4). Tayvon Hall added 56 yards and two scores and had two catches for 44 yards. Division is 1-6.
