Newfield senior Ron Denig added to his accomplishments this season, winning the Bob Collotta Award for Suffolk's most outstanding linebacker. Denig was a key piece as Newfield began its improbable path to the Long Island Class II championship title. It was the first championship in school history, and first ever for a team seeded as low as fifth going into the playoffs.
