Sachem East’s defense stopped Riverhead twice in the red zone in the final minute of their 14-7 Suffolk I win Saturday. Derrick Bisaccio’s 7-yard touchdown pass to Jamie Capizzi, followed by a two-point conversion, gave Sachem East a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. Gino LaRotonda’s 80-yard touchdown run in the first quarter broke a scoreless time. Riverhead’s John Booker rushed for a 5-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Sachem East is 1-1; Riverhead is 1-1.

Patchogue-Medford 35, Central Islip 14: Joe Kelly had seven carries for 76 yards and three touchdowns to lead Patchogue-Medford (1-1). Kieran Hughes completed 6 of 16 passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns and CJ Forgione had four catches for 47 yards and a touchdown. John Coutard added 18 carries for 169 yards. Beyrim Ayari recorded seven tackles, a sack, a blocked punt and a fumble recovery.

Commack 35, Bay Shore 7: Jake McKay, Dean Diaz, and Jeremy Weiss each had two touchdowns to lead the Cougars. McKay ran for 135 yards and touchdowns of 2 and 3 yards. Weiss completed 7 of 11 passes for 120 yards and a 30-yard passing touchdown to Diaz. Weiss ran for a 26-yard touchdown and Diaz ran for a 27-yard touchdown. Weiss’ rushing touchdown in the third quarter gave Commack a 34-0 lead. Joon Choi made 12 tackles, including three for a loss and a sack, for Commack (1-1).

Floyd 35, Sachem North 12: Dylan Harris rushed for 129 yards and had three TDs for the Colonials. Connor Taphouse had seven tackles, a fumble recovery, and three sacks for Floyd (2-0).

Whitman 28, Brentwood 6: J.T Taylor completed 16 of 21 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns for the Wildcats. He also rushed for another score. Taylor’s 32-yard TD pass to Jason Burke and 1-yard scoring run helped Whitman build a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Burke made three catches for 99 yards and a score. J.D Harrison made six catches for 73 yards for Whitman (1-1).
