Suffolk Division II football Week 4 recap

Tyler McCarthy’s 3-yard touchdown run with one minute left in the game capped an eight-play, 70-yard drive and gave Connetquot a three-point lead in its 29-26 victory over West Babylon in Suffolk Division II Friday night.
Michael Ross’ two-point conversion pass to Tommy Malvagno extended the lead to 29-24. Brian Marra intercepted a West Babylon Hail Mary at the 1-yard line with one second left in the game to ice the win.
Connetquot took a knee in the end zone as time ran out, resulting in a safety. Ross threw for 278 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions on 26-for-34 passing. He also threw two two-point conversion passes.
Nick LaMantia made seven receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown. Devin Shapiro made nine receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown and had an interception on defense. Billy Walker had three sacks, including a key one on the final West Babylon drive. Stephen Bubier made 12 tackles, including one for a loss and a sack and Matt Gomez made nine tackles, including three for a loss for Connetquot (2-2).
West Babylon is 2-2.
Northport 24, Centereach 14: Jack Helrigel had a 34-yard TD catch that broke a 7-7 tie just before halftime to lead Northport.
Owen Johansen completed 7 of 12 passes for 175 yards and two TDs. JJ Ahlstrand had a 50-yard TD reception, kicked a 33-yard field goal, and three extra points. Dylan McNaughton had 11 tackles for the Tigers (4-0).
North Babylon 48 Copiague 8: Daivon Lofton ran for 165 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries to lead North Babylon (2-2). Tyler Hovanec threw two touchdown passes of 25 and 26 yards to Jack Montecalvo. Jaymari Curtis added 95 yards on the ground, including a touchdown run of 56 yards before the half. Hovanec and Joe Mott each had an interception. Copiague falls to 0-4.
Newfield 39, Smithtown East 7: Devin Aviles had 15 carries for 195 yards and two TDs to lead Newfield (2-2). Joe Hackal also added 11 carries for 116 yards and a 45-yard TD. The Wolverines rushed for a total of 436 yards. Dylan Smith and Kenny Petit-Frere had one interception apiece in the win. Smithtown East fell to 1-3.
