Suffolk Division II Week 6 roundup
Bellport 21, Northport 7: Jason Hunt caught four passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns and returned a punt 44 yards for a touchdown to lead Bellport, 21-7, over Northport on Saturday in a Suffolk Division II contest.
Donte Phillips ran for 104 yards and converted a two-point conversion for Bellport (5-1). Justin Miles had 168 yards passing.
Smithtown West 14, Newfield 13: Jack Laprarie made an interception with 20 seconds left in the game to seal the win for Smithtown West (4-2). Brayden Stahl scored the tying touchdown on a 2-yard run with three minutes left in the fourth quarter and Landon Schnedier made the winning PAT. Brian Hope made 10 tackles and Dylan Philips added eight tackles. The Smithtown West defense turned Newfield over five times.
West Islip 31, Huntington 20: Patrick Keenan led a balanced West Islip rushing attack, amassing 131 yards on 14 carries and scoring on a 36-yard touchdown run to lead West Islip (4-2). Rocco Carpinello scored on runs of 16 and eight yards.
Half Hollow Hills East 51, Centereach 0: Jovanny Brown ran for 153 yards and a touchdown for Half Hollow Hills East (3-3).
Connetquot 41, Copiague 8: Michael Buttino scored rushing touchdowns of 3, 15 and 20 yards to lead Connetquot (4-2).
North Babylon 42, Smithtown East 21: Nathaniel Griffith ran for 360 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries to lead North Babylon (4-2). Griffith opened the scoring with a 81-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Jaymari Curtis added 137 yards and scored two touchdowns on a 17-yard run in the first and a 16-yard run in the third quarter.
Lindenhurst 20, West Babylon 6: Chris Carson ran for 106 yards, caught four passes for 52 yards and had 12 tackles to lead Lindenhurst (5-1). Evan Chieca had 11 tackles and three sacks and caught a 3-yard touchdown. Martin Pusey and Matthew Durdin each had interceptions.
