Suffolk Division II Week 8 roundup
Mack O’Brien scored the go-ahead 1-yard touchdown in the third quarter of Northport’s 34-21 win over West Babylon in Suffolk Division II Friday night. Andrew DeMarco rushed for a 53-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Nick Valenti returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown to give Northport (6-2) a 21-14 lead entering halftime. West Babylon’s Nick Field caught a 50-yard touchdown pass from Elijah Outlaw to tie the score at 21 in the third quarter. Northport trailed 14-0 in the first quarter, but touchdown runs by Michael Raio and Michael Campoli tied the score at 14 in the second quarter.
Bellport 36, Smithtown West 16: Donte Phillips rushed for four touchdowns, a two-point conversion and caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Justin Miles for Bellport (7-1). Phillips accounted for all of Bellport’s touchdowns and had touchdown runs of 8, 6, 10 and 26 yards. Jacque LaPrarie caught two touchdown passes from Brayden Stahl for Smithtown West (5-3).
Half Hollow Hills East 34, North Babylon 7: Jovanny Brown rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns and made six tackles in Suffolk II. His 17-yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave the Thunderbirds a 13-0 lead. He added a 22-yard touchdown run in the fourth. Shaki Bethea made 10 tackles, had an interception, and gained 130 yards off kick returns. Josh Issacs made 12 tackles, Ian Gallub had eight tackles and a sack, and Nigel Clay had 45 yards rushing, a touchdown, and nine tackles for Half Hollow Hills East (5-3).
Lindenhurst 49, Connetquot 20: Chris Carson scored two rushing touchdowns and one punt return touchdown for Lindenhurst (6-2). Carson scored the first touchdown of the game from 17 yards out and the second-to-last touchdown from 47 yards out. His punt return went for 62 yards. Nick Rose led with 13 tackles and a sack. Tarrin Mussillo added eight tackles, a sack and a touchdown via a blocked punt. Christian Campay also made eight tackles, and Christian Aquino had an interception.
West Islip 47, Smithtown East 28: Patrick Keenan had 117 yards and two touchdowns on four carries and completed 3 of 4 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown to lead West Islip (5-3). Rocco Carpinello had a rushing touchdown and an interception and Chris Pirapato, Evan Aponte and Jack Harvel each scored rushing touchdowns.
Newfield 35, Centereach 12: Matt Evers threw two TDs to Dylan Smith to lead Newfield (3-5). Kenny Petit-Frere and J.J. Deliat both scored rushing touchdowns. Payne Weinhauer returned an interception 42 yards for a TD.
Huntington 42, Copiague 0: Christian St. John ran for 155 yards and three TDs, Mikey Kline had 119 yards and a TD and David Dje Bi Baleborzan added 89 yards and two TDs to lead Huntington (2-6) Joe Algeri had eight tackles and two sacks.
