Erik Matz and Dalton Rhodes stopped Commack quarterback Ryan Sheridan on a two-point conversion with 2:30 remaining in the fourth quarter as Patchogue-Medford (2-0) defeated Commack, 39-38, Friday night in Suffolk I football.
Dan Codispoti completed 18 of 26 passes for 303 yards. Mikel Keane had seven receptions for 134 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, one which he returned for a 37-yard touchdown. He also threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Shameir McCullough and added eight tackles. McCullough had eight receptions for 182 yards and three touchdowns.
Northport 15, Brentwood 7: Ryan Elliot broke up a pass in the end zone with 40 seconds remaining to seal the win for Northport (1-1) yesterday. Will Regensburger’s 32-yard field goal in the third quarter gave Northport a 15-7 lead, set up by Ryan Walsh’s 40-yard pass to Frankie Stola.
Bay Shore 17, Sachem North 10: With Bay Shore trailing 10-9, Matt Ilchuk tossed a 32-yard fade route to Kevin Sammis, who at 6-6 beat double coverage in the left corner of the end zone with 5:33 remaining in the game yesterday. Bay Shore (1-1) took a 17-10 lead after a two-point conversion pass from Ilchuk to Damian Fanduiz. Savion Sullivan had 11 tackles, three for loses, a sack and a forced fumble. LaShawn Creekmore had seven tackles with a forced fumble and he added a 57-yard touchdown run. Massiah Wilson had nine tackles, two for loses.
Lindenhurst 20, Connetquot 6: The Lindenhurst defense continued to shine, led by Malik Grant who had six tackles and a sack, and Andy Merkenson, who had five tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery Friday night. Austin Perry and Jeremy Ruckert connected on a 12-yard TD on a back-shoulder fade with three minutes remaining in the first quarter to give Lindenhurst (2-0) a 7-0 lead. Perry passed for 113 yards and a score and added 72 rushing yards on 10 carries. Ruckert finished with eight receptions for 80 yards and recovered a fumble.
Whitman 35, Central Islip 21: Brian Louis’ 6-yard touchdown run with 2:23 left in the third quarter broke a tie at 21 for Whitman (1-1) yesterday. Jamari Brown sealed the win in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard scoring run, his second rushing touchdown of the game. He also had eight receptions for 77 yards. Matt Havekotte had nine catches for 101 yards. Isaiah Wilkerson completed 23 of 36 passes for 266 yards and one touchdown. Vinny Pastore had three sacks.
Floyd 36, Sachem East 12: Nick Silva had 137 yards and two touchdowns on 19 rushes to lead Floyd (2-0) yesterday. Jordan Clinton rushed 11 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
