Kevin Smith caught Will Gambino’s third touchdown pass of the game with 31 seconds left to give Westhampton a come-from-behind 24-20 win over Deer Park in Suffolk III. The score capped a 75-yard, 2:29 drive.
Deer Park scored twice in the third quarter to take a 20-17 lead. Gambino found Smith with 1:47 left in the first quarter to break a scoreless tie.
Islip 35, Comsewogue 28: Matt Ferraro’s 54 yard touchdown catch from Joey Vitale with 57 seconds left in the fourth quarter gave Islip (1-0) a 35-28 lead after they scored 22 consecutive points in Suffolk III. Ferraro then sealed the win with an interception with 28 seconds remaining.
Sayville 48, Hauppauge 20: Jake Tripptree threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns for Sayville in Suffolk III. Anthony Morrione caught five passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns and Kyle Messina added 125 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries. Anthony Contaldi had 51 receiving yards and one touchdown on three catches.
Harborfields 29, Rocky Point 14: Vincent Bolognino scored a 70-yard rushing touchdown and a 30-yard receiving touchdown for Harborfields.
Amityville 28, Eastport-South Manor 10: Jermaine Jackson scored two rushing touchdowns for Amityville in Suffolk III. Triston Trellis added a seven-yard touchdown run and Tyler Hinton scored a two-yard rushing touchdown.
Half Hollow Hills West 47, East Islip 31: Joseph Filardi completed 23-of-32 passes for 334 yards and five touchdowns and returned a fumble 80 yards for a touchdown.
East Hampton 50, Wyandanch 8: Finn Byrnes rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.
