Week 6 is a big one in the 631 because the preseason No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in each league square off. In Leagues I and III, those seeds have held up and first place is on the line. In Leagues II and IV, the games still have serious playoff implications.

Be sure to check Friday’s paper as Gregg Sarra, Andy Slawson, Chris Mascaro and myself make picks for 10 of the best games on Long Island this weekend.

Division I
Floyd (4-1) at Sachem North (5-0).
I’ve been looking forward to this one ever since I saw the Section XI schedule for 2010. Even though Floyd’s loss to Longwood last week takes a tiny bit of the luster off this Friday night matchup, I’m still intrigued. Can Floyd’s young, but fast defense stop the best rushing attack on Long Island, featuring Jesse Scanna, Michael Andreassi and Dalton Crosson? I don’t think so, but it should be fun. Check it out live on MSG Varsity beginning with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m.

Division II
East Islip (4-1) at North Babylon (4-1).
This rock-’em, sock-’em Saturday afternoon game matches two long-time rivals with stout defenses and mostly traditional offenses. The winner still has a chance to catch surprising Newfield (5-0) for the regular-season title. The loser will still be a tough out come playoff time. EI’s Kevin Hutchinson and NB’s Preshod McCoy are two of the better offensive players in Suffolk.

Division III
Islip (5-0) at Sayville (5-0).
If the weather forecast that calls for windy conditions is accurate, Sayville’s passing game could be affected on Saturday afternoon. Steven Ferreira (16 touchdowns) is the most accurate passer I’ve seen this year. The Golden Flashes do have a nice running game this year, but the combination of strong gusts and a strong Islip defense could keep the score down. Division IV
Babylon (3-2) at Bayport-Blue Point (4-1).
It’s rare to find the Panthers with two losses and in third place at this stage of the season. Babylon, with its rich tradition, still expects to be a playoff factor and could make a statement in this Friday night game. The Phantoms are legit, however, with their only loss coming to unbeaten Glenn on a last-second field goal.
