Gazzola's buzzer-beater lifts Longwood

Nicole Gazzola hit a jumper at the buzzer to give Longwood a 40-38 win over Floyd in Suffolk League I girls basketball Saturday. Kiery West had 12 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks for Longwood (6-3).

Riverhead 58, North Babylon 45: Shanice Allen scored 17 of her 23 points in a 28-24 first half and had five rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead Riverhead (8-0) in League III. Jalyn Brown had nine points and eight assists. Blue Wave coach David Spinella, in his ninth season, earned his 100th career victory.

Deer Park 47, Comsewogue 33: Nicole Gomez had 14 points, five rebounds and four steals for Deer Park (6-3) in League IV.

East Islip 43, Smithtown West 33: Freshman Katie Walsh had a career-high 19 points and added 11 rebounds to lift East Islip (4-4) in League III.

Smithtown East 45, Newfield 29: Genna Murray had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Samantha Delaney 11 points and six rebounds to lead Smithtown East (2-5) in League III.

Copiague 67, Half Hollow Hills West 49: Mikaiya Moore had 14 points and 10 rebounds and her cousin Ihnacinse Grady had 11 points, seven assists and six steals for Copiague (7-2) in League IV. Cypher McCloud had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Tracey McFadden 12 points. Sydney Sodine's 28 points led HHHW.

Hauppauge 62, Huntington 31: Julie Williams had 19 points and Lindsey Alfano 17, including five three-pointers, to lead Hauppauge (9-0) in League IV.

Kings Park 40, Sayville 35: Kristen Picciano's three-pointer early in overtime gave Kings Park a five-point lead after Shannon Ahern scored on a floater to open overtime for Kings Park (7-1) in League V. Amy Dean hit a pair of free throws with six seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 31 for Sayville.

Mattituck 53, Babylon 50: Nicole Murphy hit a pair of free throws to give Mattituck (4-3) a three-point lead with 30 seconds left in League VII. Murphy scored eight points, and junior Allie Wilcenski had nine points and a career-high 15 rebounds for Mattituck.

South Side 40, Roslyn 33: Caitlin Wallace had 10 points and 15 rebounds and Maggie McGowan nine points and 10 rebounds for South Side (3-3) in Conference A-I.

Island Trees 50, Valley Stream North 42: Maggie Milonakis had 12 points to lead Island Trees (7-1) in Conference A-IV.

Portledge 51, Evangel Christian 32: Tamara Simpson had 27 points, five rebounds and five steals to lead Portledge (15-0) in non-league.

Kellenberg 55, St. Dominic 24: Caitlin McGuinness scored 14 points for Kellenberg (5-3) in CHSAA.

St. Anthony's 71, Gill St. Bernard's (Gladstone, N.J.) 62: Rebecca Musgrove had 23 points and three assists to lead St. Anthony's (12-4) in the JFK Tournament in the Bronx. Chastity Taylor had 21 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Long Island Lutheran 48, Paterson (N.J.) Eastside 33: Boogie Brozoski had 17 points and seven assists and Yuni Sher 13 points and 11 rebounds for Long Island Lutheran (14-2) at the JFK Tournament in the Bronx.

WRESTLING

Shoreham-Wading River 40, Hauppauge 34: T.J. Fabian pinned Austin Monroe in 1:48 to win the 125-pound match and lead Shoreham-Wading River (25-0), which clinched the final of the Newburgh Duals.

Syosset 56, Mepham 23: Nick Rondino won by pin in 1:06 at 106 pounds and Eric Faimon won by pin in 2:44 at 113 pounds as Syosset took the finals of the NIT dual meet tournament.
