Alex Mattera powers E. Islip in OT win over Hills West
Alexa Mattera scored a career-high 28 points to lead East Islip (2-4) to a 51-47 overtime win against Half Hollow Hills West in League IV. Jackie Carty scored six points in overtime for East Islip, including a pair of free throws with two seconds left to secure the win. Mattera scored East Islip's other seven points in overtime.
Hills West scored with eight seconds left in regulation to take a 38-35 lead, before East Islip's Lara Meehan hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. Carty also had 15 rebounds. Tori Harris scored 24 points for Hills West.
Calhoun 46, Elmont 43 (OT): Jackie Ras scored four of Calhoun's (1-3) six points in overtime to lead the Colts to their first Conference AA-III victory of the season. Ras finished with nine points. Nora Charidah had a game-high 16 points and 10 assists. Lauren Marinello chipped in with 12 points.
West Islip 52, Riverhead 47: Lindsay Darrell scored nine of her 23 points in the fourth quarter as West Islip (4-3) went on a 19-7 run in the fourth to pull away in League III. Darrell also had nine steals and nine rebounds. Smithtown East 49, Smithtown West 43: Sam Delaney scored 20 points and grabbed 19 rebounds and her three-point play tied the score with about one minute left. Smithtown East (6-1) used a 16-4 fourth quarter run to win it in League III. Jessica Anderson added 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Oceanside 43, Uniondale 37: Emily Ott and Veronica Miller went -for-4 from the foul line in the final 30 seconds to secure the win. Mara Stewart scored 14 points for Oceanside (4-2) in Conference AA-I.
Wheatley 46, East Rockaway 42: Allie LaMonica led Wheatley (1-3) with a game-high 26 points in its Conference BC win. Olivia Braito had six points, 10 rebounds and five steals.
Port Washington 51, Plainview JFK 46: Anna Catrone had 17 points and Mia Walker had 14 points, four steals and three rebounds to lead Port Washington (3-3) in AA-II.
Floral Park 85, North Shore 65: Kaela Hilaire scored 30 points and had 14 assists for Floral Park (7-0) in Conference A-III. Erica Bowe hit three three-pointers and scored 11 of her 17 points in the third quarter. Lorraine Hickman added 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Our Lady of Mercy 49, Sacred Heart 37: Marilyn Lehmuller scored nine points and had 14 rebounds and four steals in Our Lady of Mercy's (2-1) CHSAA win. Lizzie Stiles had 10 points, four assists and four steals.
Miller Place 48, Amityville 34: Andrea Iavarone had 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists and Christine Patterson had seven points, 15 rebounds and four assists to lead Miller Place (4-2) in League VI. Rachel Hayes chipped in eight points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
St. John the Baptist 59, St. Dominic 46: Gianna Locker had 15 points and Bridgette Moran had 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead St. John the Baptist (2-3) in CHSAA.
Valley Stream Central 53, East Meadow 38: Brianna Hendrick had 16 points and 15 rebounds and Kallie Demas added 10 points to lead Valley Stream Central (3-2) in AA-II.
Mepham 49, Long Beach 35: Bridgid McNeill had a career-high 15 points and added eight rebounds and two assists, as Mepham (4-0) used a 20-6 third quarter to win in Conference AA-III.
Freeport 49, Farmingdale 33: Taylor Miller and AJ Smith each had a game-high 19 points in Freeport's (5-1) Conference I win.
Harborfields 46, Sayville 36: Kristen Kelly scored 15 points to lead Harborfields (6-0) in League V.
Brentwood 73, Floyd 46: Natasha Almonacy scored 27 points for Brentwood (5-1) in its League I win.
