Danielle Brusca had a career-high 36 points, including 5-for-6 from three-point range, and added seven assists to lead Bethpage to a 62-37 win over Hewlett on Tuesday in Conference A-II.

The senior point guard, who set her previous career high of 28 points on Jan. 19 in a 80-64 win over Lawrence, is now averaging 20.3 points per game, which is ninth best on Long Island.

With Brusca facing constant double-teams, Bethpage ran screens to create space, allowing her to get to the basket or pull up for the outside jumper.

"They tried to seal her off," Bethpage coach Tom Gargiulo said, "but she got loose."

She scored 21 first-half points and finished the third quarter with 33 points as Bethpage (6-1) opened a 57-30 lead.

"I had to sit her in the fourth," Gargiulo said. "She probably would have had over 45 points the way she was playing."
