Forster leads Huntington over Comsewogue
Freshman Heather Forster set career-highs with 26 points, including a late free throw to seal the win, and 25 rebounds to lead Huntington (4-7) to a 48-42 win over Comsewogue yesterday in League IV girls basketball.
Hauppauge 60, West Babylon 47: Lindsey Alfano had 15 points and nine rebounds and Julie Williams added 16 points to lead Hauppauge (11-0) in League IV. Freshman Carly Tellekamp had nine points and freshman Alex Scauri had eight points in their first career varsity starts.
Pierson 54, Smithtown Christian 25: Sophomore Bridget Canavan scored a career-high 25 points, including 10 in the third quarter, as Pierson (6-3) clinched a playoff berth in League VIII.
Islip 56, Rocky Point 39: Freshman Alyssa Murphy had a career-high 16 points and Shannon Duer added 16 points and 12 rebounds for Islip (7-2) in League V.
Glenn 37, Shoreham-Wading River 32: Emma Klis hit two free throws with under a minute remaining to lift Glenn (9-0) in League VI. Klis and Allison McKenna each had 14 points.
Copiague 79, Bellport 60: Mikaiya Moore had 19 points and 15 rebounds and Tracey McFadden added 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Copiague (9-2) in League IV. Bellport's Arella Guirantes scored 16 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter.
Riverhead 66, Smithtown East 26: Senior Melodee Riley had a career-high 21 points and added 10 rebounds as Riverhead clinched its first League III title since 2008.
Kellenberg 49, St. John the Baptist 41: Junior Kathleen Meyer had seven of her career-high 15 points in the first quarter and Khadijah Donaldson had 10 points and nine rebounds for Kellenberg (6-3) in CHSAA.
Waldorf 50, Upper Room 19: Isabella Fraim had 21 points and Ajanai Miller-Randolph added 14 points to lead Waldorf (12-1) in IPPSAL. Sydney Zambrotta had 17 points for Upper Room.
