Pantowich, Alexander nail it down for Plainview JFK
Sammy Pantowich scored 14 points, including a basket with a little less than a minute left, as Plainview JFK topped Westbury, 42-40, in girls non-league basketball Friday.
Plainview JFK's Emily Alexander (10 points) hit a three-pointer with 1:00 left to tie the score at 40.
Pantowich scored eight of her 14 points in the fourth quarter.
East Islip 37, Hewlett 34: Katie Walsh had 10 points and 12 rebounds for East Islip in non-league. Elizabeth Vetter scored seven points and hit a three-pointer with 1:58 left to give East Islip a 32-31 lead.
Mount Sinai 48, Port Jefferson 39: Kate Hogan had 12 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks, Marisa Colacino had 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals and Victoria Johnson added 12 points and five rebounds to lead Mount Sinai in non-league.
Oyster Bay 42, Elmont 35: Caroline Kelly had 12 points and three assists and Hannah Kaiser eight points and nine rebounds for Oyster Bay in non-league.
Port Washington 57, Clarke 25: Mia Walker had 11 points and four steals off the bench in a Port Washington tournament semifinal. Port Washington will play Friends Academy in the final Saturday at 2 p.m.
Friends Academy 36, Great Neck North 20: Rose Mangiarotti scored 12 points and Lindsay O'Sullivan and Kristina Iordanou each had eight points to lead Friends Academy in the first round of the Port Washington tournament.
Uniondale 71, Calhoun 37: Jayda Hyatt led Uniondale with 20 points and 10 rebounds in non-league. Yadelin Martinez added 12 points in the win.
Glen Cove 62, Valley Stream South 28: Taylah Hudson had 20 points, 11 steals and nine assists to lead Valley Stream South in non-league. Tristyn Hudson chipped in 16 points, six rebounds and three assists in the victory.
