Newsday's top 100 Long Island girls lacrosse players for 2024
Newsday's annual list of the top 100 Long Island high school girls lacrosse players to begin the 2024 season, listed in alphabetical order. (All stats are from last season unless otherwise noted.)
Maureen Arendt, Garden City, A, Sr.
The Florida commit had 48 goals and 17 assists for the Long Island Class B champions, including three goals and two assists in the final.
Kate Atkinson, Northport, M, Soph.
She had 54 goals and 27 assists for the Suffolk Class A champions, including four goals and two assists in the county final.
Emily Backlin, Long Beach, G, Sr.
Backlin had 144 saves and four interceptions. Her ability to make saves makes teams switch up their shot selection.

Kayleigh Bender, Huntington, A, Sr.
Bender finished with 41 goals and 26 assists. She’s The Hofstra commit is a strong dodger with the ability to feed others.
Amelia Bentley, Cold Spring Harbor, A, Sr.
The Drexel commit scored 30 goals and had 26 assists.
Isabella Blasi, Kellenberg, M/A, Sr.
She missed the start of last season while rehabbing from an injury the year before and totaled 22 goals, seven assists, 14 draw controls and eight ground balls. Blasi, a Wofford commit, will be integral to Kellenberg’s offense all year.
Sabrina Boyle, Huntington, M, Jr.
She had 83 goals and 16 assists at Our Lady of Mercy, including nine goals in a 13-12 overtime victory in the CHSAA state Class A final. The Binghamton commit transferred to Huntington this year and will have a immediate impact.
Amelia Brite, Commack, M, Jr.
She had 36 goals, 18 assists and 52 draw controls. She can dominate on both ends of the field and has incredible stamina. Brite is committed to Stony Brook.
Emma Brown, Bayport-Blue Point, D, Jr.
The Stanford commit has a high defensive IQ that helps cause turnovers.
Charlotte Browne, Sacred Heart, M, Sr.
The Ohio State commit is integral on the draw, ranking second on the team in draw controls (31) despite missing five games. Browne had 13 goals on 21 shots, converting at 61.9%, and added six assists over nine games.
Tess Calabria, St. Anthony’s, A, Sr.
The Newsday All-Long Island selection and North Carolina commit had 41 goals and 18 assists. She is a four-year varsity player.
Sofia Cangelosi, Sayville, M, Jr.
Cangelosi is a gritty player who is strong on both sides of the ball, as well as on the draw circle. The Michigan commit had 19 goals and eight assists.
Dakota Capolino, Farmingdale, G, Sr.
The Flagler commit had 155 saves and isn’t afraid of coming out of the cage for interceptions or ground balls.
Kayli Carannante, Mount Sinai, M, Sr.
Carannante has proved herself as both a lockdown defender and a dynamic dodger. She had eight goals and one assist.

Juliana Cerasi, Wantagh, M, Jr.
Cerasi had 13 goals, seven assists and 43 draw controls. She is committed to James Madison.
Delaney Chernoff, Long Beach, M, Jr.
This natural lefty can win draws and score as a righty. The Denver commit had 37 goals and 11 assists.
Peyton Choma, Mount Sinai, M, Sr.
The Quinnipiac commit is explosive and dynamic on both sides of the ball. She had 21 goals and two assists.
Maddie Chun, Manhasset, D, Sr.
Chun is an aggressive, lockdown defender. She won 20 ground balls and caused 15 turnovers.
Delaney Clark, Kellenberg, G, Jr.
The Holy Cross commit made 142 saves.
Olivia Coffey, Miller Place, M, Sr.
The Stony Brook commit is an outstanding finisher (39 goals) with amazing speed in the open field.
Skylar Cohen, Friends Academy, M, Sr.
The Yale commit scored 69 goals and had 35 assists. Cohen is a triple-threat player, taking the draw, scoring on offense and making game-changing defensive plays.
Kaitlyn Cole, Sacred Heart, D, Sr.
The Newsday All-Long Island second-team defender is committed to Boston College. Her problem-solving skills and quickness in reading the offense are instrumental to her team's success.
Olivia Comerford, Ward Melville, D, Sr.
With a combination of speed and toughness, Comerford is the anchor of the Ward Melville defense that reached the Suffolk Class A semifinals. The Penn commit has great field vision.
Sienna Connolly, South Side, D, Jr.
The Northwestern commit has exceptional speed, aggressive play and field sense that make her a defensive and transition threat.
Sophia Conti, Babylon, M, Sr.
The Virginia commit scored 59 goals and had 16 assists. She has a tremendous lacrosse IQ and is a fierce competitor.

Sienna Diglio, Wantagh, M, Sr.
The UMass commit is aggressive, smart, quick and has tremendous endurance. She had 16 goals and four assists.
Aubrie Eisfeld, Bayport-Blue Point, M, Jr.
The Syracuse commit scored 23 goals. Eisfeld is a two-way midfielder who can beat you off the dodge or in tight finishing off the feed. She’s a threat to cause turnovers in transition and on defense.
Maya Farnan, Westhampton, G, Jr.
The Penn commit made 145 saves and is a leader on defense
Olannah Fikes, Sachem North, A, Sr.
Fikes finished with 28 goals and 13 assists. She is committed to Stony Brook.
Kyle Finnell, Garden City, A, Jr.
The Newsday All-Long Island second-teamer had 60 goals and 18 assists. She is committed to Northwestern.
Cady Flaherty, Sacred Heart, M, Jr.
The do-it-all midfielder is featured in everything the Spartans do. The Virginia commit led the team with 51 draw controls, and added 23 goals and six assists to go with 22 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.
Sienna Fox, Port Washington, A, Sr.
Fox finished with 59 points (33 goals, 26 assists), including an eight-goal game against Plainedge. She is committed to Binghamton.
Kaylee Fravert, Sacred Heart, M, Sr.
The USC commit finished with 21 goals and seven assists. Her understanding of the game and her stickwork open up opportunities for her all over the field.
Julia Fusco, Bayport-Blue Point, M, Sr.
Fusco had 26 goals and four assists. The Stony Brook commit is a gritty two-way player who does a little bit of everything and has a knack for finding the net.
Nicole Giannakopoulos, Manhasset, M, Sr.
Giannakopoulos is back from an ACL injury. She had 20 goals and five assists in her sophomore season.
Hannah Gilliam, North Shore, D, Sr.
She is constantly tasked with guarding the opposing team’s top scoring options. The Wesleyan commit will anchor the North Shore defense.

Micaela Gillis, Massapequa, M, Jr.
Gilis is committed to Jacksonville. She plays a dominant role on the team with her speed and athleticism on the draw controls and her dodging on offense.
Kayla Gilmore, Floyd, M, Sr.
The Maryland commit and Newsday All-Long Island pick had 67 goals, 25 assists and 126 draw controls. She has 200 goals, 65 assists, and 543 draw controls for her career entering this season.
Caitlin Haggerty, South Side, A, Sr.
The Vermont commit had 49 goals and 17 assists. She has a great sense of the offensive game and is comfortable driving from any position.
Madison Hall, Miller Place, D, Sr.
The four-year starter is an integral part of the Panthers’ back line and defends the opposing team’s top attack. The Manhattan commit had 45 ground balls and 31 forced turnovers.
Morgan Harloff, South Side, D, Sr.
The Stony Brook commit is a strong, physical and intelligent defender who’s often utilized to guard the opposing team’s top player.
Kate Hearns, Commack, D, Sr.
The Bucknell commit’s physical presence stands out as she guards the top attackers each game. Her incredible speed allows her to run the ball down the field.
Lisa Heffernan, Sachem North, M, Sr.
Heffernan finished with 22 goals and 11 assists. She is committed to Pace.
Julia Huxtable, Northport, A, Sr.
The South Florida commit had 46 goals and 16 assists.

Lyla Ingrilli, Wantagh, D/M, Jr.
The Maryland commit's athleticism and speed make her tough to get by. She caused six turnovers.
McKenna Jacobs, St. Dominic, M, Sr.
The George Washington commit had 43 goals and 12 assists and is a true two-way midfielder.
Maddy Kaffl, Glen Cove, M, Sr.
She had 77 goals and 16 assists, and is the program’s all-time leading scorer, according to coach Mark Checola. Kaffl takes nearly every draw for Glen Cove.
Catherine Karman, Port Washington, M, Jr.
The Virginia Tech commit had 39 goals and 14 assists.
Leah Kaufer, Syosset, A/M, Sr.
The Binghamton commit is a tough competitor who will take on a more offensive role this season after posting 43 goals with six assists.
Brooke Kenedy, Babylon, M/A, Sr.
The Hofstra commit is a dynamic player and a fierce competitor. She scored 29 goals and had eight assists.
Elizabeth Kenney, Mineola, A, Sr.
Kenney has a high lacrosse IQ and is a prolific scorer, finishing with 58 goals and five assists.
Megan Kenny, St. Anthony’s, M, Sr.
The Maryland commit had 32 goals and 12 assists. She scores crucial goals, sets up plays, provides defensive stability and is always able to make an impact.
Reese King, Westhampton, M, Jr.
The North Carolina commit had 38 goals, 10 assists and 64 draw controls. She’s a do-it-all player who can come up with big plays.
Grayce Kitchen, Shoreham-Wading River, A, Jr.
Kitchen is talented around the crease and a very accurate shooter. The Louisville commit scored 28 goals and had five assists.
Kylie Lamoureux, Rocky Point, M, Jr.
The Maryland commit had 24 goals, 24 assists, 19 ground balls and 32 draw controls. The two-way midfielder is a strong dodger and can defend nearly anyone. Her speed in transition separates her from other top talent.
Ashley Langdon, Eastport-South Manor, G, Sr.
The Johns Hopkins commit enters her third year as a starter. She can read defenses quickly to help put teammates in the correct positions and can come out of the cage and cause a turnover. Langdon had 77 saves.

Olivia Liddell, Patchogue-Medford, M/A, Jr.
The Stony Brook commit had 29 goals and 12 assists. She makes a huge impact on the draws and in generating offense from the midfield into the scoring area.
Brooke Long, St. Anthony’s, M, Sr.
Long displays talent and versatility on both ends of the field. The Penn State commit finished with 11 goals and three assists.
Mia LoPinto, Manhasset, A, Sr.
LoPinto led Manhasset with 55 points (25 goals, 30 assists). The USC commit is a versatile attacker who knows when to pass or shoot.
Ava Main, Long Beach, M, Sr.
Main has elite speed that creates matchup problems for opponents. The James Madison commit had 42 goals, 18 assists, 41 ground balls and 63 draw controls.
Emma McLean, Eastport-South Manor, D, Sr.
The Loyola commit is moving from midfield to the backline to focus on locking up the opposing team’s top scoring options. McLean had 26 draw controls and 23 caused turnovers to pair with 12 goals and four assists.
Ava Meyn, Bayport-Blue Point, M/A, Jr.
Meyn is a draw specialist and has a powerful shot. She had 39 goals and 19 assists and is committed to play at Maryland
McKenzie Moeller, Rocky Point, A, Sr.
The Wofford commit is a strong force on Rocky Point’s attacking end. She finished with 21 goals and 23 assists.
Carley Mullins, Islip, D, Sr.
The Mercer commit is a tough defender who can use her 5-11 height to her advantage when guarding top scorers. The three-sport athlete added six goals and four assists.
Holly Newman, Manhasset, M, Sr.
The Cornell commit is dominant on offense and defense. She’s a shifty attacker who can drive to the cage and score. She had 23 goals and 10 assists.
Julia May O’Connor, St. Anthony’s, D, Jr.
She will anchor the Friars’ defense with her speed, athleticism and skill. The Syracuse commit is already one of the most talented defenders on Long Island.
Mabel Overbeck, Garden City, D/M, Sr.
The Newsday All-Long Island first-team selection’s lockdown defense helped Garden City (17-4) reach the state Class B finals. She is committed to Duke.
Amanda Paci, St. Anthony’s, D, Sr.
The Duke commit and Newsday All-Long Island first-team selection is a defensive talent and a fierce competitor who played a pivotal role in helping St. Anthony’s earn the CHSAA Class AA title.
Shea Panzik, Manhasset, A, Sr.
Panzik struggled with injuries but still managed to have 20 goals and 11 assists. She is committed to Vanderbilt.

The lefty attacker has elite dodging abilities and finished with 17 goals and 15 assists. She will play at Pace.
Liliana Pettit, Commack, M, Jr.
The Stony Brook commit has amazing stick skills. She finished with 29 goals, 21 assists and 66 draw controls.
Niamh Pfaff, Garden City, G, Sr.
The Yale commit made 125 saves. The athletic goalkeeper had 12 saves in a 15-6 victory over West Islip in the Long Island Class B championship game last year.
Jayden Piraino, Half Hollow Hills, M/A, Sr.
Piraino is a lefty goal scorer with an incredible vision of the field. The Virginia commit had 49 goals and 32 assists.
Kennedy Radziul, Northport, M, Sr.
The senior midfielder had 52 goals and 26 assists. She is committed to play at Delaware.
Charlotte Rathjen, South Side, M, Jr.
Rathjen had 43 goals and 12 assists. The draw specialist is committed to North Carolina.
Emilia Retzlaff, Ward Melville, M, Sr.
The Navy commit had 23 goals and seven assists, but her major strengths are ground balls, draw controls and clears.

The Maryland commit had 42 goals and seven assists, including a six-goal game to win the Long Island Class D championship.
Casey Rhine, Roslyn, M, Sr.
Rhine finished with 71 goals and 30 assists, including eight goals and four assists against Our Lady of Mercy. She is committed to Jacksonville.
Emily Romeo, Garden City, D, Sr.
The Binghamton commit has started every game the last two seasons for Garden City, helping lead them to a state Class B championship last season.
Melina Sarlo, East Hampton, M, Sr.
Sarlo led the team with 46 goals and added 15 assists. The Hofstra commit takes the draws and is equally dangerous as a dodger and feeder.
Sawyer Scarola, Harborfields, M, Jr.
The Maryland commit had 26 goals and 11 assists. Her role will expand this season.
Jolie Schiavo, Smithtown West, M, Jr.
The three-year starter had 35 goals and 13 assists. The James Madison commit also had 62 draw controls, 25 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers.
Paige Selhorn, Carle Place, M, Sr.
The Cincinnati commit has excellent vision and can make strong takes to the cage. She had 46 goals and 33 assists.
Ava Simonton, Ward Melville, M/A, Jr.
The Villanova commit had 27 goals and 10 assists and will continue to take on an integral role for the Patriots.
Maya Soskin, Cold Spring Harbor, G, Jr.
The Newsday All-Long Island second-team selection made 125 saves. She is committed to Florida.
Jenna Soto, Smithtown East, A, Sr.
The Newsday All-Long Island second team pick had 75 goals and 29 assists. The Northwestern commit is an explosive attack with a high lacrosse IQ.
Alexa Spallina, Mount Sinai, A, Jr.
The Newsday All-Long Island second team selection finished with 41 goals and 44 assists. The Syracuse commit is a knowledgeable and dynamic attacker who is set to quarterback the offense.
Kate Spinks, Ward Melville, A, Sr.
The Brown commit had 32 goals and is set to take on an even more pivotal role in the offense .

Daniella Stek, Seaford, D, Sr.
The Drexel commit totaled 49 caused turnovers, 56 ground balls and seven draw controls. Stek isn’t afraid of marking a top scorer one-on-one.
Jacky Sutherland, Floyd, M, Sr.
The three-sport athlete had 45 goals, 16 assists and 35 draw controls. Sutherland is committed to Hofstra.
Amanda Sweeney. Eastport-South Manor, M, Sr.
The Cincinnati commit had 36 goals and seven assists. She’s just as vital defensively and in the midfield with 34 draw controls as well as being one of the smartest defenders on the field.
Angela Taddeo, North Babylon, M, Sr.
The Stony Brook commit had 44 goals and 11 assists. She is integral in the transition at midfield and a key piece of the team's offense and defense.
Avery Testa, South Side, A, Sr.
The athletic, tenacious attack missed the majority of last season but returned to score three goals in the Nassau Class C semifinals. She is committed to William and Mary.
Courtney Thornton, Sayville, D, Sr.
The Jacksonville commit is a fast, lockdown defender who can change the outcome of the game.

Maryjane Timpanero, Ward Melville, M, Sr.
The Rhode Island commit had 29 goals and seven assists and is key on draws and transition.
Fiona Vu, Rocky Point, M, Sr.
The Brown commit had 29 goals, 15 assists, 25 ground balls and 37 draw controls. She has tremendous field vision with the speed and agility to separate herself from other elite players on the field.
Abigail Warner, Longwood, G, Sr.
The six-year varsity starter had 116 saves and a 50% save rate. She is a vocal leader and a terrific long-ball passer. She is committed to UNC Charlotte.

Janna Weltner, Connetquot, D, Sr.
The Muhlenberg commit had 45 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers as a physical defender unafraid to take on the opposing team’s top scoring option. Coach Sal Piscitelli described Weltner as “tough as nails.”
Amanda Williamson, Seaford, M, Sr.
She is a dominant force at the draw, totaling 74 draw controls. The Queens University of Charlotte commit had 40 goals and 21 assists.
Lexi Zenk, St. Anthony’s, G, Sr.
The senior goalie has quick reflexes and the ability to anticipate shots. The North Carolina commit had a 78% save rate.
