Adena Bernot hit the clinching penalty kick, lifting Wheatley to a victory over top-seeded Carle Place Tuesday and delivering the Wildcats' first Nassau Class B title since 2006.

"There was such an adrenaline rush and excitement," the sophomore said of the winner. "You're not even completely thinking at that moment."

Good thing for No. 3 Wheatley, Bernot's faculties were with her. She looked to her right to fake the goalie, then fired into the left corner and secured the win, 3-1, in penalty kicks.

Carle Place's Kiera Ackerina scored in the second half and Rachel Jozef answered for Wheatley (9-3-2). The Wildcats will face Center Moriches for the L.I. title at 3 p.m. Saturday at Tully Park.
