Hines' 3rd-OT goal gives South Side title

Meghan Hines' goal 1:04 into the third overtime sent No. 2 South Side over top-seeded Division, 3-2, in the Nassau Class A girls soccer final Wednesday night at Denton Avenue Park in New Hyde Park.
It is the 23rd county title for South Side (11-2-4), which plays Suffolk champion Islip in the Long Island championship Saturday at 5 p.m. at Denton Avenue Park.
South Side's Julie Beyar scored on a free kick from more than 30 yards with less than a minute to play in the second overtime to tie the score at 2. Ariana Weingrad scored with 4:26 left to give Division a 2-1 lead but the Blue Dragons (14-1-3) could not hold on.
The Cyclones had control in the second half, stringing together three corner kicks before Christina Klaum scored her 17th goal of the season in the 73rd minute to tie it at 1.
South Side nearly tied it five minutes earlier off a corner kick but Gina Fader made a point-blank stop. Fader made 10 saves, and Kelsey Berki had seven for South Side.
Maggie Carew put Division on the board in the 47th minute after Berki made an initial stop on a free kick. A crowd of players battled for the rebound, with Carew emerging to kick the ball in.
Berki had a ball slide through her hands in the 16th minute but leaped on top of it before it could cross the goal line
South Side had a scoring chance in the ninth minute but Taylor LeBright cleared the ball as it approached the goal line.
