4. Girls Soccer — Islip beats Sayville (Nov. 4)
Morgan Santoro scored on a free kick at 7:34 in the first half to break a scoreless tie and lead No. 5 Islip over No. 1 Sayville in the Suffolk Class A semifinals. Sayville came into the game undefeated at 16-0 and Islip had a 6-8-2 record. Islip overcame a number of injuries during the season — nevermind having to compete against several Class AA teams in its league — to pull off the upset.
