Whitman, Comsewogue advance
The final two spots in the first round of the Class AA Suffolk girls soccer playoffs have been filled. After Whitman and Comsewogue each emerged with a 1-0 win in their outbracket games, they will now face tough assignments in Sachem East and Conntetquot, respectively.
Kelly Bilodeau scored the winner off a corner kick from Taylor O'Toole 15 minutes into the second half to lead No. 16 Whitman (7-4-2) to a 1-0 win over No. 17 Patchogue-Medford (6-7). Whitman goalkeeper Samantha Myers-Dineen made ten saves to record her seventh shutout of the season. Whitman advances to play at top-seeded Sachem East on Saturday.
Nicole Aprea scored off an assist from Crysta Dinis with 24 minutes left in the second half to lead No. 18 Comsewogue (7-6) over defending Class A county champion No. 15 Hauppauge. Goalkeeper Kim Comstock made three saves to record the shutout. Comsewogue advances to play at No. 2 Connetquot on Saturday.
