On the state championship stage, St. Anthony’s Emilia Parlow didn’t start the way she wanted, but the talented sophomore bounced back in a big way.

After a double bogey on the first hole, Parlow put together a terrific stretch, finishing with a 3-over 75 to place second in the NYSCHSAA girls golf tournament at Eisenhower Park’s Blue Course on Monday.

“I came back from the first hole and I was steady,” Parlow said. “It was great. It helped me balance my emotions and stay calm. Considering I came back gives me a lot of hope for next year that I have the skill to win this.”

Natalie Wasik, a freshman from Nardin Academy in Buffalo, won the state tournament with a 3-under 69. While Wasik was tremendous, Parlow did not back down and was near the top of the leaderboard the entire way.

Parlow shot par on holes 15, 16 and 17 before a birdie on the 18th hole.

“She was playing with a girl who made zero mistakes,” St. Anthony’s coach Kathy Calfa said. “But she doesn’t get rattled. She just wants it and she stays in it and doesn’t get frustrated. In golf, it’s easy to get in your head, but she stays focused and steady all the time.”

Just one week ago, Parlow took home the NSCHSAA individual championship and helped St. Anthony’s win a team title. The sophomore now has two league individual championships, a state title from 2025 and a second-place finish in 2026.

“Playing for St. Anthony’s has opened my eyes,” Parlow said. “I play with this team, I love them and I love supporting them. I owe my success to my coaches, my teammates and my family supporting me. I’m really excited for next year.”

Kellenberg’s Eloise Alveari made her debut in the CHSAA state tournament. The freshman shot a 6-over 78 to finish third.

Lucky for Kellenberg coach Keith Doran, Alveari is only a freshman and looks poised to compete on this stage again.

“Like the Carpenters' song, ‘We’ve Only Just Begun,’ ” Doran said. “We’re only beginning to see how good of a player she is. As a freshman, she showed that the bigger the stage, the better she plays.”
