The Nassau boys golf team won the state championship Monday with a score of 546 on Day 2 at Cornell to finish with a two-day total of 1,094.

Nassau had three golfers finish in the top 10. Syosset sophomore Willis Huynh and New Hyde Park freshman Chris Yeom tied for fifth, both at 9-over-par 153. Yeom shot a 2-over 74 on Day 1 and 79 on Day 2. Huynh had the same scores on reverse days.

Huynh and Yeom both qualified for the state Federation Cup, which will be June 10 at Bethpage Black.

Cold Spring Harbor senior Steve Tanen shot 77-76 to also finish at 153, but he lost the tiebreaker with a higher back nine on Day 2 to finish sixth.

"The kids were very happy with their accomplishment," Section VIII coordinator Larry Rose said. "This was a historic year for Nassau golf, and they are all proud to be a part of it."

Sayville's Kyle Burke tied for seventh at 154. East Hampton's Ian Lynch tied for 11th at 158. The Suffolk team (1129) finished ninth.
