Long Island made its presence felt Saturday in first round of the state girls golf championships at SUNY Delhi.

Leading the way for the Island is Northport senior Krissy Unger, who is in third place after shooting 2-over 74.

Unger trails Christine Schmitt (72) and Danielle Fuss (73), both from Mercy of Section V.

Syosset's Elizabeth Choi (75) is one shot behind Unger, while Samantha Sessa of Garden City shot 7-over 79.

Mount Sinai's Kristina Ly, Victoria Snak of Smithtown West and Ward Melville's Danielle Greene each shot 80.

Garden City's Brittany Burke shot an 83.

Section V finished the first day on top of the leader board with 547, Suffolk is second with 563 and Nassau is in third place with 586.

The first tee time for today's final round at SUNY Delhi's golf course is 8:30 a.m.
