Sewanhaka’s Timmy Na makes hole in one on par 4

When junior Timmy Na hit his tee shot on the par-4 296-yard 13th hole at Eisenhower Blue, he could not have imagined what would happen next — a hole-in-one.
Na, who shot a 2-over 38 for the Sewanhaka District boys golf team, hit his driver down the middle and saw his ball head toward the green in Monday’s 7.5-1.5 loss to Wantagh in Nassau V.
As the ball got closer to the hole, Na lost sight of it.
“I thought it went over the green,” said Na, who attends New Hyde Park High School. “I wasn’t sure where the ball went, but one of the Wantagh golfers told me that he didn’t think it went over.”
As Na walked up to the hole, a Wantagh player said to him jokingly, “I think it’s in the hole.”
Sure enough . . . it was.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the ball in the cup,” Na said. “The golfer I was playing with said she had never written a one on the scorecard before.”
Sewanhaka coach Marty Kelly said that he has played golf for 40 years and has been coaching for 15 years. “I have never met or saw anyone that has made a hole-in-one on a par 4,” said Kelly. “It just doesn’t happen.”
“I tried to not excite myself too much after it happened,” Na said. “I tried to avoid it the rest of the match and focus on what I was doing to end the day with a good score.”
