1. SACHEM NORTH BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Matt Grace had 35 assists and Sean Hannett had 12 kills to lead the Flaming Arrows (9-0) in a four-set victory over Ward Melville. The reigning Class A state champions have won 29 consecutive matches.
2. MASSAPEQUA GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Massapequa has yet to drop a set this year, both in league and tournament play. The perennial Nassau Class AA champions are en route to another title.
Farmingdale cruised to a 42-0 win over Hicksville. Jordan McLune scored three times and the defense turned in a third straight shutout performance behind Ryan Charleston's five tackles and fumble recovery.
The Trojans' offense has combined for 19 goals over its last three games, two of which were shutouts. Emily Clarke continues to lead team scoring with 16 points.
The defending Suffolk champs remain undefeated at 14-0 after three wins this week, including an impressive 5-2 victory over contender Ward Melville.
The Friars finally lost, but to a St. Ignatius (Ohio) team that was ranked second in the Oct. 6 USA Today/NSCAA Super 25 poll. Other than that, St. Anthony's reeled off three wins last week by combined margin of 14-1.
The first-place Chiefs remained unbeaten in league play after Hope Breslin scored two goals in a 4-1 win over Oceanside. Massapequa has infused young talent, like freshman starters Julia Hannon and Grace Bernardi into its back-to-back state championship team.
The Comets are 11-0-2 after a pair of shutout victories last week over Oceanside and Baldwin.
John Carroll had seven kills and Stephen Codispodo had five kills to lead Massapequa (9-0) in a straight set win over Farmingdale.
10. ST. ANTHONY'S GIRLS SOCCER
Francesca Venezia capped a perfect 3-0 week for the Friars with a hat trick in a 6-0 win over Archbishop Molloy. The defending CHSAA state champions remain atop their league with a 6-1-1 record.
