2014 All-Long Island gymnastics team
CYDNEY CRASA
Long Island Gymnast of the Year
Ward Melville, Sophomore
Crasa earned gold on the beam in the state tournament with a 9.525, set a county record in the state qualifier with a 9.925 on her explosive Yurchenko layout vaults, and led her team to its third straight county title and an undefeated regular season.
JORDAN CECCARINI
Miller Place, Freshman
The independent gymnast was second in the all-around in the state qualifier with a 36.625, and made her mark upstate with near-flawless bars and beam routines, good for 9.450 and 9.300 and third place in those events.
SARAH CIRESI
Bethpage, Senior
Ciresi battled injury to captain Bethpage, which went undefeated in the regular season, and took first in the all-around in the Nassau state qualifier with a 36.925. Her 9.375 on bars got her fifth place in the event in the state tournament, earning her a medal.
MATTEA GRAVINA
Bay Shore, Freshman
Gravina became known for her sterling beam routine and her complicated two backhandspring layout, full twist dismount -- a move that earned her a 9.300 in the state tournament. She also came in third in the state qualifier.
ALYSSA FIRTH
Bethpage, Freshman
Firth dominated all season with an arresting and difficult floor routine and took second in the state qualifier with a 36.750. Her vault in that meet, a Yurchenko layout, earned her a 9.675 -- the highest mark of any gymnast in any event.
MIRANDA LUND
Plainview JFK, 8th grade
Lund stepped up in a big way during the season, capably filling in for injured teammate Jessica Lopez and helping her team to the Nassau championship where she earned a 9.4 on floor. In the state qualifier, Lund took third with a 35.725.
