Coach of the Year: JoAnna Judge, Commack

Vulin, with her terrific dismount on beam, earned an 8.4 in the event at the state qualifier and placed third in the all-around with a score of 33.0.
Newsday Gymnast of the Year: Miranda Lund, Plainview JFK, Soph.
In a field of 122 gymnasts, Lund stood alone at the top of the podium at the state championships. With her score of 37.6, she became Plainview JFK's first state all-around gymnastics champion."I was shocked," the unassuming star said afterward. "I didn't think I was going to place in anything, except maybe beam." Lund won beam (9.350), placed second on floor (9.475) and placed third on vault (9.600). "I'm just happy I didn't fall once," she said. She is the first Nassau gymnast to win the all-around title at the state meet since Jess Panza of Island Trees in 2008.
Skye Harper, Bay Shore, 8th grade
Harper had a breathtaking performance on floor at the state qualifier. Her 9.7 was the top score in the event. She was the runner-up on beam (9.175) and placed third on vault (9.475) at the qualifier
Jacklyn Dolitsky, Commack, Fr.
Dolitsky scored a 9.3 on floor and a 9.25 on bars at the state qualifier en route to an all-around score of 36.3, good for third place at the qualifier.
Suffolk Gymnast of the Year: Lauren Gomes, Commack, Sr.
Gomes scored a 9.575 on bars to take gold at the state championship tournament. "It's just a good little message," Gomes said afterward, "just to know that this sport was meant for me." Gomes also won the all-around at both the state qualifier and the Suffolk team championships, leading Commack to the team title.
Gillian Murphy, Massapequa, Soph.
Murphy placed second in the all-around at the state qualifier with a 36.275. She was the runner-up in beam and floor with scores of 9.375 and 9.3, respectively, at the qualifier.
