Joe Hauer had two hits and three RBIs Friday, including two in the top of the fifth inning, as No. 16 Plainedge overcame a one-run deficit to defeat No. 3 South Side, 12-2, in Game 3 of the Nassau Class A best-of-three baseball semifinals.

Mike Miller allowed six hits with five strikeouts, and Anthony Pensato went 2-for-4 with two RBIs as Plainedge (16-10) took the series, 2-1.

Plainedge will face No. 8 Island Trees in a best-of-three championship series starting Tuesday at Farmingdale State.

Smithtown East 3, Commack 2: Doug Milne's two-out single scored Matt Kelly in the bottom of the fifth to give No. 4 Smithtown East (19-5) a 3-2 lead in a Suffolk Class AA losers' bracket fourth-round game. Dimitri Lattas had a two-run homer to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead. Smithtown East will play third-seeded Eastport-South Manor in the losers' bracket final Saturday at 11 a.m.

Eastport-South Manor 3, Bay Shore 2: Billy Goncalves went 2-for-3 and gave No. 3 Eastport-South Manor (21-3) a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a single in a Class AA losers' bracket fourth-round game. Mike Flynn added a hit and an RBI in the win. Dalton McCarthy gave up one run and four hits in five innings and Goncalves gave up one run over the final two innings to secure the win. Eastport-South Manor will face No. 4 Smithtown East on Saturday at 11 a.m.

BOYS LACROSSE

West Islip 10, Sachem North 5: Anthony DeLuca had two goals and three assists for No. 1 West Islip (17-1) in a Suffolk Class A semifinal. Jon Reese had three goals and an assist and Jack Kelly made 10 saves for West Islip in the win. West Islip will face No. 3 Ward Melville in the Class A final on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Stony Brook University.
