Justin Ascencio scored 19 points to lead No. 6 Cold Spring Harbor over No. 3 Valley Stream North, 52-48, in a Nassau Class A boys basketball quarterfinal on Wednesday. Nate Grossman scored 13 points and Cole Newman had six. Dominic Obukwelu scored 19 points for Valley Stream North (16-5). Cold Spring Harbor (14-7) will take on No. 2 North Shore on February 28 at SUNY Farmingdale State.

North Shore 52, Wantagh 44: Matt D’Aversa scored 15 points for No. 2 North Shore (17-4) in a win over No. 10 Wantagh in the Nassau Class A quarterfinals. Danny Lenney added eight points and eight rebounds. Lucas Schimsky had 10 points. Vasilis Triantafyllou had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jack Tate and Kevin Gutfleisch each had 11 points for Wantagh (9-13).

Friends Academy 58, Malverne 50: Eyan Valadez scored 22 points as No. 1 Friends Academy beat No. 9 Malverne in the Nassau Class A quarterfinals. Jake Bock had 16 points and hit four three-pointers. Jackson O’Brien added 14 points. Chad Wesley led Malverne (9-13) with 16 points. William Hartley had 11. William Hartley had 11. Friends Academy (17-4) will play No. 5 Floral Park Feb. 28 at Farmingdale State.

Floral Park 70, Locust Valley 58: Jim Driscoll had 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead No. 5 Floral Park over No. 4 Locust Valley in the Nassau Class A quarterfinals. Anthony Caris had 24 points and six rebounds. Ryan Connolly had six points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists for Floral Park (15-6). Brendan Martin had 17 points. Preston Appel finished with 20 points for Locust Valley (14-7). Mike Hancock had 14 points.

Ward Melville 62, Newfield 38: Neelesh Raghurama scored 22 points to lead No. 9 Ward Melville over No. 8 Newfield in the first round of the Suffolk Class AAA playoffs. Lorenzo Beaton had 12 points and 20 rebounds and Devin Lynch scored 14 points. Josh Hayes scored 12 points for Newfield (12-8). Ward Melville (12-9) will play at No. 1 Bay Shore on Friday at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

TUESDAY’S GAMES

Chaminade 77, St. John the Baptist 69: Devin Dillon scored 14 of his 25 points in the second half for Chaminade (16-6) in the CHSAA. Kam Elliott added 23 points. Steven Williams had 18 points for St. John the Baptist (11-9).

Massapequa 39, Uniondale 36: Briana Neary scored 15 points in No. 4 Massapequa’s win over No. 5 Uniondale in the Nassau Class AAA quarterfinals. Darrian Jackson had 14 points for Uniondale (14-5). Massapequa (14-7) will face No. 1 Baldwin (17-3) in the semifinals this weekend at Farmingdale State.
