St. Anthony's girls soccer joined by boys squad in Newsday's fall Big 10

1. ST. ANTHONY’S GIRLS SOCCER

The four-time defending CSHAA champions have outscored opponents by 56-5 over a 16-0 regular season. Olivia Perez leads the team with 11 goals and nine assists, Emily Riggins has nine goals and four assists.

2. NORTHPORT FIELD HOCKEY

The defending Long Island Class A champions outscored opponents 83-6 and concluded the regular season with a 15-0 record. Sophia Bica tallied 16 goals and 16 assists and Olivia McKenna scored 14 goals and has a Long Island-best 29 assists.

3. GARDEN CITY FOOTBALL

The Trojans have won seven in a row and crushed previously unbeaten MacArthur, 49-6, last week in a Nassau Conference II game. Jack Cascadden had five first-half touchdowns as the Trojans opened a 35-0 halftime lead.

4. EASTPORT-SOUTH MANOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL

The Sharks are 12-0 and led by outside hitter Jake DesLauriers, who had 16 kills, six digs, two blocks and two aces in a 3-0 victory over Connetquot on Oct. 21. His brother, freshman Ayden DesLauriers, added 16 assists and four digs.

5. MASSAPEQUA GIRLS SOCCER

The Massapequa offense has been completely dominant this season, outscoring opponents 69-14 in a 14-0-1 regular season. Massapequa defeated Herricks, 6-0, in the first round of the Nassau Class AA playoffs. Lia Howard leads the team with 14 goals and 25 assists.

6. BRENTWOOD BOYS SOCCER

One of the off-the-radar reasons why top-seeded Suffolk AA Brentwood rolled through Suffolk I (14-0) is players like senior Tony Vigil, who moved from his natural center midfielder position to center back to strengthen a Brentwood defense which allowed only 12 goals in league play with a plus-54 goal differential.

7. SACRED HEART GIRLS SWIMMING

The Spartans picked up right where they left off after winning all 11 events at the CHSAA championships last year. Sacred Heart is off to a 5-0 start with some of the fastest swimmers not only on Long Island but in the country in Cavan Gormsen and Tess Howley.

8. GARDEN CITY FIELD HOCKEY

The Nassau Class A champions outscored their opponents 44-3 and ended the regular season with a 12-0 record. Blakely Trapani led the Trojans with eight goals and eight assists. Goalkeeper Mackenzie Wehrum had 8 shutouts in 12 games.

9. ST. ANTHONY’S BOYS SOCCER

The Friars have been dominant in NSCHSAA play and have outscored opponents by a 57-7 margin. Only Chaminade (6) and St. John the Baptist (1) scored against St. Anthony's this season.

10. EAST ISLIP GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

They won the Suffolk IV regular season title with a dual meet record of 6-0. They wrapped the season with a 16-46 win over Deer Park that saw Sam Tucci, Joy Petersen, Olivia Simonetti, and Danielle Simonetti take the top four spots.

On the cusp: Massapequa girls volleyball, Smithtown gymnastics, Northport boys volleyball, Whitman football.
