High school roundup: Baseball and softball results

Liana Horan hit a walk-off single to score Sydney Scheurer and give Oceanside softball a 2-1 win over Calhoun Monday in Nassau’s Conference I. Horan finished 2-for-3. Hailey Bischoff tripled and Scheurer doubled to score her, tying the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Caroline Ferchland pitched a complete game for Oceanside (5-2), striking out 11. Sophia Nicastro hit a home run for Calhoun (2-3).
Locust Valley 4, Herricks 0: Sofia Baron tossed a one-hitter with 17 strikeouts for Locust Valley (2-2) in Nassau III. Baron also went 2-for-2 with a triple. Gwen Velsor and Emma Tonner went 2-for-3 with a double. Seventh-grader Madison Fung pitched a complete game with 13 strikeouts for Herricks (0-6).
Valley Stream North 7, Manhasset 5: Tiffany Melendez went 3-for-3 with an RBI and got her 150th career hit for Valley Stream North (3-1) in Nassau IV. VSN trailed 4-2 entering the bottom of the sixth before Alexia Villatoro’s two-run single tied the game. Natalie Barbieri scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. Maddie Posillico tossed seven innings to pick up the win. Natalie Sherwood struck out 10 for Manhasset (3-4).
MacArthur 5, Seaford 4: Alyssa Tinucci led off the bottom of the sixth with a double, stole third and scored the go-ahead run on Gianna Spaventa’s groundout for MacArthur (1-2) in Nassau I. Tinucci and Spaventa each scored two runs. Alex Livanos went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Olivia Macken pitched 5 2⁄3 innings and struck out four in relief and picked up the win. Rylie Betz had two hits and an RBI for Seaford (2-3).
Wheatley 4, Baldwin 3: Lily Habib went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a double for Wheatley (4-1) in Nassau IV.
Lia Arduini struck out five over seven innings. Raegan Dunn and Gabby Garcia both had a hit. Chloe Collado and Lily Duet each had two hits for Baldwin (1-3).
Central Islip 4, Longwood 3: Stevey Duval struck out 10 and allowed one earned run in a complete game for Central Islip (3-2) in Suffolk I. Lianna Mills went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Mount Sinai 2, Hampton Bays 1: Savannah Hesse hit a two-run home run in the first inning to lead Mount Sinai (4-3) in Suffolk V. Keira Legge allowed only one unearned run, four hits and had five strikeouts.
BASEBALL
Cold Spring Harbor 5, Oyster Bay 4: JJ Gusick hit a walk-off single, driving in Ryan McCarey in the bottom of the seventh inning, to lead Cold Spring Harbor (4-1) in Nassau B. Carter Henvey pitched three shutout innings in relief. Connor Sheridan went 4-for-4 with two runs scored.
Garden City 2, MacArthur 1: Chris Desiderio’s two-out single to leftfield drove in Christian Roddini for the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to lead Garden City (3-1) in Nassau AA-II. Joe Carey struck out 13 in a complete game, allowing two hits and no walks.
Hewlett 11, Glen Cove 1: Marek Williams went 4-for-4, including a grand slam and two-run single, for Hewlett (4-0) in Nassau AA-II. Williams also struck out 10 over five innings. David Miller hit a three-run home run. Jordan Robinson went 2-for-2 with a first-inning homer for Glen Cove (0-4).
Carey 7, Manhasset 6: Tristan Hickis pitched six innings and struck out 13 while only giving up one unearned run to lead Carey (2-1-1) in Nassau AA-II. Brody Kennedy hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead.
Plainedge 5, Seaford 4: Jaxson Torres went six innings and allowed one run, one hit, three walks and struck out 12 to lead Plainedge (7-0) in Nassau A. Torres went 4-for-4, with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Bobby Wescott and Mike Calapai each had two hits.
Bethpage 3, Clarke 0: Will Lynn pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing three hits with 12 strikeouts, for Bethpage (2-2) in Nassau AA-III.
Floyd 9, Patchogue-Medford 8: With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning, Aidan Dobrie’s hit scored Evan Pacella to walk off the Suffolk I game for Floyd (4-1). Dobrie and Kiernyn Mehmel both had three hits. CJ Burkhardt earned the win.
