Alex Livanos hit a walk-off three-run home run in the seventh inning of No. 3 MacArthur’s 7-6 win over No. 6 Carey in Game 1 of a Nassau Class AA softball quarterfinal on Wednesday night. Livanos finished 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, and struck out six in a complete game for the win. Alyssa Tinucci hit two solo home runs for MacArthur (9-11). Carey (5-13) will host Game 2 at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Bethpage 1, Glen Cove 0: Rylee Petruskie pitched a five-hit shutout and struck out five batters to lead No. 5 Bethpage past No. 4 Glen Cove in Game 1 of the Nassau AA playoffs. Elizabeth Hoffner drove in Petruskie with an RBI single in the top of the first inning for the game’s only run. Glen Cove (4-13) will host Bethpage (13-7) for Game 2 at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Connetquot 4, North Babylon 3: Lyla Camacho went 3-for-4 and drove in Ava D’Agostino with a walk-off double in the ninth to lead Connetquot (7-12) in Suffolk II. Connetquot trailed 3-0 in the seventh, but Madison Nani hit a sacrifice fly, Camacho singled in a run and Olivia Micheli tied it with an RBI single. Camacho struck out eight and allowed four hits over nine innings. Ari Rodriguez and Makenzie Piniero each had an RBI for North Babylon (7-12).
Oceanside 13, Port Washington 1: Hailey Bischoff went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead No. 1 Oceanside past No. 8 Port Washington in Game 1 of a Nassau AAA quarterfinal. Riley Brasch went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs and Joanna Byrne drove in four. Oceanside (18-3) will visit Port Washington (10-10) for Game 2 at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
BASEBALL
Holy Trinity 4, Chaminade 0: Joey Maxwell went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs to lead No. 3 Holy Trinity over No. 6 Chaminade in the first round of the NSCHSAA playoffs. Cole Paulsen went 2-for-2 with a run scored. Holy Trinity (12-10) advances to face No. 2 Kellenberg at Farmingdale State College at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chaminade (11-13) will visit either No. 4 St. John the Baptist or No. 5 St. Dominic for an elimination game on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
West Islip 7, East Islip 2: Conor Kenefick pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts, giving up two runs on three hits to clinch the Suffolk IV championship for West Islip (16-3) over East Islip (13-5) in Suffolk IV. He also went 4-for-4 and drove in a run. Will Delanoy homered in the second inning and finished with three RBIs.
Great Neck South 4, Great Neck North 3: Brandon Reed went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for Great Neck South (8-9) against Great Neck North (11-6-1) in Nassau Countywide. Reed also struck out seven batters over in five innings.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Rocky Point 8, Kings Park 7: Cadence Adamo scored the game-winning goal for Rocky Point on a free-position shot with 1:38 remaining in double overtime for Rocky Point (7-7) in Suffolk II. Addie Kelly had four goals and an assist for Kings Park (9-7).
GIRLS BADMINTON
Syosset 6, Herricks 1: No. 4 Syosset swept the singles matches against No. 5 Herricks in the quarterfinals of the Nassau playoffs. Syosset (10-7) will visit No. 1 Jericho for the semifinals on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Herricks finished 7-9.
Jericho 6, Mepham 1: Judy Liang defeated Isabelle Martinez, 21-4, 21-4, at third singles to lead No. 1 Jericho past No. 8 Mepham in the Nassau quarterfinals. Jericho (15-0) will host No. 4 Syosset in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mepham finished 1-15.
