Philip Bunt scored the winning run on a ground ball in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead host Carle Place to a 7-6 win over Oyster Bay in a Nassau Conference B baseball game on Friday night.

Bunt went 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs. Tyler Marquart circled the bases to score the tying run in the bottom of the fifth inning, tying it at 6. Logan Fraine went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Ryan Kang pitched a scoreless top of the sixth inning with the score tied at 6, giving the Frogs the chance to score the winning run in the bottom half of the frame. Anthony Scheidet went 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs and Ethan Ruff went 2-for-4 with two runs for Oyster Bay.

Long Island Lutheran 8, Rye Country Day 5: Luke Martone went 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lead Long Island Lutheran (2-0) in a NYSAIS game. Cole Thomas went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Kayden Bates allowed one run and one hit, with no no walks and five strikeouts in three innings to earn the save.

THURSDAY’S GAME

Newfield 3, Smithtown East 1: Brandon Seddio allowed just one earned run and struck out nine in a complete game to help lead Newfield in Suffolk III. Benny Lamberson went 1-for-3 with a two-run double and Christian Rivera went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

SOFTBALL

Sachem North 4, Ward Melville 3: Delaney Mathes had two hits, a double, an RBI and a run to lead Sachem North (2-0) in Suffolk II. Bella Kriklava, Shannon Forgione and Makayla Rimmer all drove in one run. Alexi Dutka hit a triple in the top of the seventh inning and scored an insurance run. Julianna Russ hit an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to make it a one-run game for Ward Melville (1-1).
