High school roundup: Baseball, softball and girls lacrosse

TJ Borzumato went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run to lead No. 1 Long Island Lutheran to a 10-3 win over No. 9 Columbia Prep in the quarterfinals of the NYSAIS baseball tournament in Brookville on Friday. Kayden Bates went 2-for-2 with a walk, two stolen bases, two RBIs and a run. LuHi (13-7) will host No. 4 Fieldston in the semifinals at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Rocky Point 6, Islip 0: Tyler Callahan tossed a one-hitter, striking out 11 to lead Rocky Point (7-12) past Islip (3-17) in Suffolk VI. Dom Pavlicko went 3-for-3 with two runs. Gavin Lamouruex went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
THURSDAY’S GAMES
Chaminade 7, St. John the Baptist 4: Brian McGoldrick and Joey Lionetti each hit a home run to lead No. 6 Chaminade past No. 4 St. John the Baptist in the NSCHSAA playoffs. Chaminade (13-13) will play No. 3 Holy Trinity in an elimination game on Monday at 7 p.m. at Farmingdale State. St. John the Baptist finished 12-9.
St. Dominic 6, St. Anthony’s 4: Tyler Camastro went 2-for-3 and struck out six batters in 6 1⁄3 innings to lead No. 5 St. Dominic past No. 1 St. Anthony’s in the NSCHSAA playoffs. St. Dominic (18-12) will face No. 2 Kellenberg in the semifinals at 4 p.m. on Monday at Farmingdale State. St. Anthony’s (15-8) will host No. 6 Chaminade or No. 3 Holy Trinity in an elimination game at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
SOFTBALL
East Hampton 4, Westhampton 3: Alexa Schaffer went 3-for-4 with a walk-off RBI single that drove in Colleen McKee in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead East Hampton (14-6) past Westhampton (15-5) in Suffolk VI. Izzy Briand struck out eight and walked two in seven innings.
Commack 4, Northport 2: Madison Johnston hit a two-run single in the top of the sixth inning to tie the score before Kate Schweitzer followed up with a two-run home run to lead Commack (17-3) in Suffolk II. Schweitzer allowed one earned run and struck out 10. Jill Ryan had three hits and scored two runs for Northport (14-6).
Ward Melville 4, Comsewogue/Port Jefferson 3: Julianna Russ went 2-for-3 with a home run and struck out 11 in a complete game to earn the win for Ward Melville (16-4) in Suffolk II. Avery Wierzbicki went 2-for-3 with a home run. Magdalena Burrell struck out 13 for Comsewogue/Port Jefferson (14-6).
GIRLS LACROSSE
South Side 19, Island Trees 3: Kiera McNamara scored three goals in No. 1 South Side’s win over No. 8 Island Trees in the quarterfinals of the Nassau Class C playoffs. Skye Korten and Bobbie Creo both had two goals and an assist. South Side (10-7) will face No. 4 North Shore in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Farmingdale State. Island Trees finished 16-2.
Kellenberg 9, St. Dominic 5: Caragh Smith had four goals and an assist to lead No. 3 Kellenberg past No. 2 St. Dominic in the semifinals of the CHSAA playoffs. Kellenberg (12-6) will face No. 1 St Anthony’s in the final at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Farmingdale State. St. Dominic finished 11-5.
