High school roundup: Boys and girls lacrosse, baseball and softball

Michael Ford scored the golden goal off an assist from Aiden Cromwell with 1:44 remaining in the first overtime period to give visiting St. Dominic a 9-8 win over Portledge in a non-league boys lacrosse game in Locust Valley on Wednesday night. Ford finished with two goals and two assists. Cromwell paced the offense with four goals and two assists. Logan Bracco saved 11 shots for St. Dominic (3-2). Will Hassett made seven, including two in overtime, to save the game. Nate Bahnik totaled four goals and two assists for Portledge (0-10).
Carey 8, Calhoun 7: James McGrath scored four goals, including the game-winner in overtime, for Carey (5-5) in Nassau II-A. Ed Flaherty scored the tying goal in the fourth quarter. Michael Carollo added two goals. Steven Martinez made nine saves. Tom Terzulli scored three goals for Calhoun (3-6).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Port Washington 7, Lynbrook 6: Addison Ahmuty scored the game-winning goal with 2:35 remaining in the second overtime period off an assist from Maggie Cassidy for Port Washington (4-7) in Nassau I. Cassidy also scored three goals. Hayes Hassett made five saves and Hannah Moses added two. Arianna Lanzello scored three goals and Delia Kirkpatrick made seven saves for Lynbrook (3-6).
Sachem North 10, Patchogue-Medford 7: Mattea Vino had five goals and one assist to lead Sachem North (4-5) in Suffolk I. Addison Pitman added two goals and three assists. Alyssa Tappin made eight saves for Sachem North and Hailey Stratton made seven saves for Patchogue-Medford (4-6).
BASEBALL
Commack 4, Lindenhurst 3: Robbie Mascia smashed a three-run home run with two outs in the top of the seventh inning to give Commack (5-3) the lead for good in Suffolk II. Mascia finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Ryan Bush went 2-for-4. Ricky Nunez struck out nine batters over seven innings for Lindenhurst (4-7).
North Babylon 4, Copiague 3: Jake Walsh hit an infield single in the bottom of the seventh to drive in Tristan Garcia with the walk-off run for North Babylon (5-6) in Suffolk III. Garcia tied the game in the same inning with an RBI double. Tommy Morton pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six. Steve Falco allowed two earned runs on four hits over six innings, striking out six for Copiague (5-5).
SOFTBALL
Commack 4, Comsewogue/Port Jefferson 3: Sophia Emanuel scored the walk-off run on Cassie Whalen’s fielders choice in the seventh to lead Commack (7-3) in Suffolk II. Emanuel hit a two-run single with the bases loaded earlier in the inning to tie it. Kate Schweitzer struck out 11. Maggie Burrell had five strikeouts for Comsewogue/Port Jefferson (7-4).
