Drew Delargy hit a free throw with 7.2 seconds remaining, capping off a 23-point game to seal Deer Park’s boys basketball 66-64 win over Smithtown East in Suffolk III on Saturday. Damien Scott scored 17 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and Brandon Sorrese added 11 points for Deer Park (13-3).
Craig O’Neil scored 21 points for Smithtown East (12-4).
Great Neck South 35, Bellmore JFK 34: Conrad Xu scored on a putback with 12 seconds left to put Great Neck South (5-10) up 35-34 in Nassau III. Xu finished the game with 10 points. Karas Beshay had seven points and 11 rebounds. Bryan Gorman led Bellmore JFK (4-10) with nine points.
Elmont 59, South Side 53: Jayden Johnson scored 28 points for Elmont (7-7) in Nassau V. Aiden Barnes had 16 points. Ryan Schmitt had 10 points for South Side (10-3).
FRIDAY’S GAMES
St. Anthony’s 67, Holy Trinity 61: Kevin Moore had a double-double with 20 points and 12 assists for St. Anthony’s (11-6) in the CHSAA. Ouse Ninche had 17 points and six rebounds. Tristian Thomas scored 30 points for Holy Trinity (16-2).
East Meadow 63, Port Washington 55: Jordan Abels scored 20 points, including six three-pointers, for East Meadow (3-9) in Nassau II. Nick Schwabe had 10 points and 12 rebounds and Harry Haber added 18 points. Billy Edelstein scored 19 points for Port Washington (11-3).
Harborfields 58, Islip 56: Alex Ruisi hit what proved to be the winning shot with two seconds left for Harborfields (6-8) in Suffolk IV, finishing with 16 points. Ryan Barling led the Tornadoes with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Chase Herrington led Islip (4-11) with 19 points
Babylon 49, Port Jefferson 43: Jaiden Millner scored with 1.7 seconds left to force overtime, leading Babylon (3-9) in Suffolk VI. Millner finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Jake Ostertag added 13 points and seven rebounds. Dan Rose scored 14 points for Port Jefferson (2-12).
BOYS AND GIRLS FENCING
Manhasset Invitational. Ward Melville sabreist William Dreyer defeated Herricks’ William Wei to take the gold medal. Jerry Wu of Half Hollow Hills took silver in epee. Joshua Oh of Wheatley/Roslyn beat teammate Thomas Lee in foil for gold. In the girls match, Syosset’s Winona Zheng defeated teammate Alexa Lim in sabre to take gold. Angela Jiang of Herricks defeated Syosset’s Thea Chen in foil to claim gold. Maya Funatomi of Syosset took gold over Manhasset’s Karina Lau in epee.
