High school roundup: Boys and girls lacrosse, plus baseball and softball

Drew Delargy scored the go-ahead goal with just over two minutes remaining in regulation to lead Deer Park to a 9-8 win over Mattituck in Suffolk League II boys lacrosse Saturday. It was the first league win for Deer Park (2-5) since June 5, 2021 against Center Moriches.
Delargy finished with five goals. Blake Muller contributed a goal and three assists and Marley Witzman made 20 saves in 28 chances.
Sean Zurawski picked up two goals and an assist, Rafa Finnerty fed out five assists and Alex Warren saved 12 shots for Mattituck (0-7).
The Stony Brook School 17, Eastern Christian 3: Nico Spallina scored three goals and dished out three assists to lead The Stony Brook School (10-0) in non-league. JJ Ramsay added three goals and two assists.
Oceanside 17, Herricks 11: Jack Passuello had three goals and six assists to lead Oceanside (6-2) in a Nassau II-A/II-B crossover. Owen Mazeika contributed four goals and two assists. Jacob Stern won 11 of 15 faceoffs. Brayden Haase scored four goals and Ayden Khan made 17 saves for Herricks (4-5).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Plainedge 9, Port Washington 7: Peyton Wise scored four goals and Cheyenne Montagna made 11 saves to lead Plainedge (5-2) in non-league. Delaney Auer and Ang Puglisi each had five draw controls. Violet Orteni scored four goals for Port Washington (3-6).
Great Neck North 18, Elmont 9: Shelly Spector scored seven goals to lead Great Neck North (2-3) in Nassau IV. Jaden Maze and Luna Van Olphen each scored three goals.
FRIDAY’S GAME
Bellport 23, East Hampton/Bridgehampton/Pierson 15: Cassidy Hanley scored 11 goals and added an assist to lead Bellport (1-4) in Suffolk II. Taylor LaGrega had eight goals and two assists. Lola Eldridge scored eight goals and Katie Grande added six for East Hampton/Bridgehampton/Pierson (2-5).
BASEBALL
Eastport-South Manor 4, Oneonta 2: Nick Calcaterra broke a tie with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the fifth inning and Bennett Smith tacked on an insurance run with an RBI single to help lead Eastport-South Manor (10-0) to a non-league win at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown. Gabe Sikora struck out the side in the top of the seventh to earn the save. ESM entered the bottom of the fifth down 2-0, but Jordan Goldhammer's RBI double cut it to 2-1. Sikora hit a sacrifice fly to center to tie it. Bennett Smith closed the scoring with an RBI single. Logan Kirwin struck out four batters over two innings in relief to pick up the win.
Port Washington 10, Manhasset 1: Koki Maezawa went 2-for-2 with two walks and four runs to lead Port Washington (3-4) to a non-league win in the 15th annual Coaches vs. Cancer game at Port Washington High School. Josh Itzikowitz hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Leo Schindler went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Jake Wilber went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk. Charlie Byers went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a stolen base. Vincent Amato smacked a solo home run for Manhasset (4-6).
Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK 4, MacArthur 3: Evan Frangas went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and a run for Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK (7-3) in non-league. Dillon Sciarillo picked up the win, striking out four over two innings. William Klaff struck out four over 1 ⅔ innings to earn the save.
Long Island Lutheran 4, Garden City 3: Cameron Coco hit a two-out, two-run single to drive in Freddie Von Bargen and Vincent Bourne in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving Long Island Lutheran (6-5) the lead for good in non-league. LuHi entered the inning trailing 3-1, but with runners on first and second base, Bourne executed a hit-and-run play and the team scored on an error to cut the deficit in half before Coco's hit. Nick Nardone earned the win out of the bullpen, while Matt Muzikant struck out a batter in the seventh to lock down the save. Matthew Garib struck out two over two innings of relief. Jake Brown hit a two-out, two-RBI single in the top of the sixth to give Garden City (7-3) a 3-1 lead.
SOFTBALL
Westhampton 9, Islip 7: McKenna Gevinski went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs to lead Westhampton (8-2) in non-league. She also pitched seven innings to earn the win. Katie Burke went 3-for-4 with three doubles, an RBI and three runs. Lila Davin went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run.
Mineola 8, Carey 5: Cassidy Fitzgerald went 4-for-5 with a triple and an RBI as Mineola (6-3) erased a five-run deficit in Nassau II. Mineola scored two runs in the fifth inning and six runs in the sixth. Sage Rowan collected two hits and two RBIs and Julianna Punkett had two hits and two runs. Amanda Baker and Autumn Malone each drove in two runs. Malone entered the game in relief in the second inning and went on to strike out nine. Genevieve Guerrero went 2-for-3. Emily Almache had two hits and three RBIs for Carey (3-7).
Mt. Sinai 16, Shoreham-Wading River 11: Savannah Hesse had four hits, two home runs, including a grand slam, six RBIs and three runs to lead Mt. Sinai (7-5) in non-league. Morgan Cavanagh added two hits, three RBIs and two runs. Keira Legge contributed three hits and scored two runs. Faith McKiernan had four hits, three runs and two RBIs for Shoreham-Wading River (7-3).
FRIDAY’S GAME
Commack 6, Huntington 0: Kate Schweitzer pitched a complete-game shutout with 17 strikeouts and went 2-for-4 to lead Commack (6-2) in Suffolk II. Sophia Emanuel went 2-for-3 with a two-run double.
