High school roundup: Boys and girls lacrosse and baseball and softball

Evelyn Skop scored six goals and Kyleigh Lennon added two goals and three assists to lead Riverhead to a 16-15 win over Whitman in Suffolk League I girls lacrosse on Wednesday. Emma Kennedy scored three goals and Beibhinn Purcell and Abbey Maaiki each added two goals and an assist for Riverhead (1-2).

Isabella Fiorelli scored a program-record 12 goals, per NYSPHSAA records, and had an assist for Whitman (0-3). Fiorelli became the fifth Long Islander and fourth Suffolk girl to score 12 goals in a game.

BOYS LACROSSE

Brentwood 8, West Babylon 7: Herson Flores won the opening faceoff of the first overtime period and scored the winning goal with 3:55 remaining for Brentwood (2-3) in non-league. Flores had four goals. Derlyn Gonzalez scored the tying goal with 50 seconds left in regulation and Axel Flores made 18 saves. Lucas Miller scored two goals and Colin Hovanec made 12 saves for West Babylon (0-4).

Kings Park 2, Islip 1: Stella Roosa struck out 13 batters and allowed one run and three hits in a complete game for Kings Park (3-0) in Suffolk V. Katherine Krayewski went 2-for-2 with a double and scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the fifth inning.
