Caroline Ferchland went 2-for-4 with a walk-off RBI single, scoring Joanna Byrne in the seventh inning to give host Oceanside a 6-5 win over Syosset in Nassau Conference I softball action on Wednesday night. Karley Handleman singled in Sydney Scheurer to tie the game for Oceanside (16-3). Gianna Maruffi had two hits and two RBIs for Syosset (6-11).

Glenn 5, Babylon 4: Gia Grimaldi drove in Georgia Keely with a go-ahead RBI single in the fifth inning to lead Glenn (6-10) in Suffolk VI. Grimaldi went 3-for-3 witht two RBIs and a run scored. Julie Goldstein went 3-for-3 with a run scored for Babylon (9-4).

Ward Melville 19, Copiague 2: Makenna Steinberg went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and struck out 10 over five innings to lead Ward Melville (12-4) past Copiague (1-16) in Suffolk II. Quinn Amari went 4-for-4 with two RBIs. Cate Scolaro hit a two-run home run.

Valley Stream Central 20, Elmont 8: Sierra Roman had three hits, including two home runs and four RBIs, to lead Valley Stream Central (12-5) over Elmont (5-12) in Nassau V. Simran Kaur went 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Sidney Torres went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.

BASEBALL

Miller Place 7, Mount Sinai 5: Josh Macdonald hit a go-ahead two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to lead Miller Place (11-4-1) in Suffolk VI. Parker Menechino went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Mt. Sinai (12-4).

Riverhead 8, Walt Whitman 1: Matt Zambriski allowed one run on two hits over six innings, striking out 14 to lead Riverhead (7-8-1) over Whitman (5-11) in Suffolk I. Zambriski went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. JJ Perez went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Carey 2, Hewlett 1: Jack LaDuca pitched three hitless innings with five strikeouts to get the save for Carey (12-5-1) in Nassau AA-II. Ryan Kunkel allowed just two hits over four innings, striking out five to earn the win. Marek Williams struck out eight over 5  1⁄3 innings for Hewlett (5-12-1).

Roslyn 4, Bethpage 1: Zach Richer pitched a complete game in his first varsity start, striking out six batters and allowing one run to lead Roslyn (6-10) over Bethpage (7-11) in Nassau AA-III.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Sacred Heart 15, Mineola 3: Riley Kirchner handed out 10 assists and added a goal to lead Sacred Heart (6-7) past Mineola (1-13) in non-league.

BOYS LACROSSE

Mepham 12, Island Trees 6: Braeden Kehoe went 21-for-21 at the faceoff X and scored two goals to lead Mepham (7-7) in Nassau II-B. Gerard Ritter had four goals for Island Trees (4-9).

Ward Melville 10, Sachem North 9: Brett Hansen scored the go-ahead goal to lead Ward Melville (10-3) in Suffolk I. Collin Mark had three goals. Steven Castellano had three goals for Sachem North (11-2).

FLAG FOOTBALL

Half Hollow Hills 38, North Babylon 6: Samantha Heyman threw for 215 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for a score to lead Half Hollow Hills (12-0) past North Babylon (3-7) in Suffolk I.

GIRLS BADMINTON

Division 4, East Meadow 3: Katelyn Monge defeated Eleena Francis at first singles, 21-11, 21-2, to lead Division (14-0) in Nassau III. Rachael Lam defeated Eunice Kim at second singles, 21-17, 23-21, for East Meadow (12-2).

East Rockaway 4, Valley Stream North 3: Ella Pizzo defeated Iman Ali at first singles 21-13, 21-8, to lead East Rockaway (10-4) past Valley Stream North (3-11) in Nassau V.
