High school sports: Yacoubou's 29 lead LuHi

Achraf Yacoubou scored 14 of his 29 points in the third quarter to lead Long Island Lutheran to a 72-64 victory over South Shore of Brooklyn Sunday in a non-conference boys basketball game.

Yacoubou added 10 rebounds and five assists as Lutheran improved to 10-1. Shaun Lawton had 14 points and four assists, and Anthony Sbarro had six points and three steals. Shamiek Sheppard led South Shore with 23 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

St. Anthony's 58, Sacred Heart 27: Johanna Impellizeri had 12 points and seven rebounds and Nicki Impellizeri and Kerrin Maurer added 11 points each to lead St. Anthony's (5-0) in a CHSAA game postponed from Tuesday. Sacred Heart is 3-2.

St. John the Baptist 59, G. Washington Carver (Pa.) 50: Alexis Smith had 17 points and four assists and Anastasia Williams added 13 points and 19 rebounds to lead St. John the Baptist (7-2) in the "A New Year's Resolution High School Showcase" at JFK High School in Paterson, N.J. George Washington Carver's Brittany Hrynko had 27 points.

WRESTLING

Division won the team title with 255 points at the Ross Cordell Rotary Wrestling Tournament in upstate Oneonta. John Pellegrino (125 pounds) was one of the six Blue Dragon wrestlers to win individual titles.
