Hirschler helps Bellmore JFK advance to Class B semifinal in boys volleyball
Ben Hirschler had 13 kills and 20 digs as No. 2 Bellmore JFK edged seventh-seeded Lawrence, 3-2, in a Nassau Class B boys volleyball quarterfinal yesterday.
Dylan Simonson added 30 digs and seven aces and Brian O'Gorman chipped in seven blocks and 12 digs as Bellmore JFK (14-1) overcame a 2-1 deficit for a 28-26, 26-28, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16 win. Bellmore JFK will play Bethpage in a Class B semifinal on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Herricks.Floral Park 3, Valley Stream South 0: David Morris had eight kills and 16 assists, Jason Cortapasso added 14 kills and Jahan Mirchandani finished with five blocks and seven kills for top-seeded Floral Park in a 25-12, 25-8, 25-13 win over No. 8 Valley Stream in a Class B quarterfinal.
