Cold Spring Harbor football's Jayden Saunders has big day on ground in win over Carle Place

Jayden Saunders rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries to lead Cold Spring Harbor to a 25-14 win over visiting Carle Place on Friday night in a Nassau Conference IV football game. Chase Cody had 122 yards on 18 carries and added a 2-yard TD run.
St. John the Baptist 16, Holy Trinity 12: Christopher Trinca had 12 tackles, including two for a loss, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and a blocked PAT for St. John the Baptist (1-1) in non-league. Maurice Scott threw for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Redding had three receptions for 65 yards, including a 43-yard scoring from Scott. Kevin Peters had an 8-yard TD reception. Holy Trinity is 0-1.
SATURDAY
Locust Valley 42, Oyster Bay 12: Aidan Russo rushed for 220 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries to lead Locust Valley (1-0) in Nassau IV. Marcus Houghtaling rushed for 68 yards and four touchdowns on 10 carries. He also had eight tackles.
Nick Ardejlan had seven tackles and three sacks. Joe Henry completed 6 of 9 passes for 85 yards and he rushed for 67 yards on nine carries. Chase Lordi had three receptions for 27 yards and George Henry had three receptions for 58 yards.
BOYS SOCCER
Smithtown East 2, Centereach 1: Anthony Puleo scored the winning goal off a free kick from 21 yards with seven minutes remaining in the first overtime for Smithtown East (1-0-1) in Suffolk II. Puleo also scored the Bulls’ first goal with six minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime.
Northport 3, Deer Park 2: Owen Lucano scored two goals and Thomas Fierro had two assists to lead Northport (2-0).
Westhampton 2, East Hampton 1: Anthony Atkinson scored the winner off a corner kick from Nicholas Paga in the first overtime to lead Westhampton (2-0). Atkinson tied the score at 1 with 10 seconds remaining in the first half, heading in a free kick from Dougie Owens.
Comsewogue 3, Hauppauge 0: Tristan Dent scored two goals to lead Comsewogue (2-0).
West Islip 0, West Babylon 0: In the second overtime period, goalkeeper Jake Whelan stopped a point-blank bicycle kick for West Babylon (0-0-1).
Whelan finished with 12 saves. Michael Hazelton had nine saves for West Islip (0-0-2).
Carey 4, Malverne/East Rockway 2: Evan Cardoso had three goals to lead Carey (2-0) in Nassau AA-III. Ronald Reyes added a goal.
Herricks 2, Hempstead 1: Aidan Bernic had one goal and one assist and Marko Kolega added a goal to lead Herricks (2-1) in Nassau AAA. Branded Chiloke scored and Brayden Haase made five saves for Hempstead (1-1).

Wantagh 3, Cold Spring Harbor 2: Shannon Udell had one goal and one assist and Brianne Schoelle and Nessa Schoepfer each added a goal to lead Wantagh (1-1) in Nassau AB-I.
Plainedge 2, Floral Park 0: Jackie Frucci and Victoria Truncali each scored for Plainedge (3-0).
Island Trees 4, Friends Academy 2: Jenna Lucatorto scored three goals to lead Island Trees (2-1) in Nassau AB-II.
Carle Place 2, Mineola 1: Daniella Correia had a goal and an assist for Carle Place (2-0).
Massapequa 3, Port Washington 0: Shea Mangan, Olivia Trojanowski and Carly Schuler each had a goal and an assist for Massapequa (1-2) in Nassau I. Reese Reustle made seven saves.
Patchogue-Medford 2, Brentwood 0: Addison Ruland scored two goals to lead Patchogue-Medford (1-1) in Suffolk I.
