Braeden Skelly had 19 points and six assists to lead Sayville to a 52-39 victory over Ward Melville in a non-league basketball game on Wednesday. Dan Yasinski added 10 points and eight rebounds and Wesley Jones had 10 points and seven rebounds for Sayville (3-1). Cooper Shank had 18 points for Ward Melville (2-2).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Smithtown West 50, Deer Park 47: Alyssa Lorefice scored 16 points and Catherine Piccininni added 10 points to lead Smithtown West (3-1) in Suffolk III. Madison Redmond came off the bench and scored nine points. Jamirah Jones had 14 points for Deer Park (0-4).
Jericho 51, Holy Trinity 39: Angela Tan finished with a double-double (21 points, 10 rebounds) to lead Jericho (5-0) in non-league. Sadie Krangle added 15 points and seven steals. Sariah Reed had 15 points for Holy Trinity (1-2).
Wheatley 44, Friends Academy 28: Georgie Almiroudis had 14 points and added 11 rebounds to lead Wheatley (3-3) in non-league. Sam Kovios added 13 points and 10 rebounds and Kara Shinder had six points, 12 rebounds and four blocks. Savannah Ross had nine points for Friends Academy (2-3).
Westhampton 58, West Islip 33: Kate Sweet had 20 points and Jasmine Taylor had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead Westhampton (3-1) in Suffolk IV. Sandra Clarke had 11 points and six assists. Leah Tussie had seven points for West Islip (3-2).
