Iannou, Swayne deliver in Plainedge's girls soccer win over Island Trees

Rae Ann Iannou scored the winner off a corner kick from Siobhan Swayne with 12 minutes left for Plainedge in a 3-2 win over Island Trees in Nassau Conference A-I girls soccer Wednesday. Laura Babyatzky scored with 10 minutes left in the first half off a Swayne through ball to give Plainedge (2-2-4) a 2-0 halftime lead.Half Hollow Hills East 1, Whitman 0: Christina Bellero scored off a deflection of her own shot, kicked out by a defender, six minutes into the second half for Hills East (3-3-2) in Suffolk League II. Jackie Natalone had 12 saves in the win.

Connetquot 96, Sachem East 88:Nicole Hetzer qualified for the state championships in the 200-yard IM (2:11.48) and the 100 freestyle (:54.35) and Connetquot also won the 200 medley relay (1:55.60) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:46.90) to improve to 3-0 in Suffolk League II.
