Juliano paces Miller Place cross-country win

Nick Juliano (16:22), Mike Fortounas (16:37), Nick Hirdt (16:37) and Jeremy Miekley (16:39) finished in third place through fifth as Miller Place stopped Shoreham-Wading River's streak of dual meet victories at 58 with a 27-28 win in League VI boys cross country Tuesday.

SWR's John Lee took first in 16:15. Miller Place (5-1), SWR, and Westhampton finished tied for the League VI title.girls cross country

Massapequa 31, Syosset 46:Caitlyn Krug ran to a first-place finish in 20:32 in the 5k at Bethpage State Park as Massapequa (6-0) topped Syosset, Uniondale (109) and Freeport (114) for its second consecutive division title.FIELD HOCKEY

Garden City 2, North Shore 0: Bitty Furman scored with 2:37 left in the first half to lead Garden City (5-0-1) in Conference I. Caroline Tarzian scored for Garden City.Bay Shore 10, North Babylon 3: Senior Sarah Fuchs had a career-high seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) for Bay Shore (8-3) in Division II. Junior Erin Corcoran had her second hat trick of the season and added an assist. Freshmen Catherine Darcy and Allie Dolder scored their first varsity goals.

GIRLS TENNIS

Sacred Heart 4, St. Anthony's 3:Liz Adrian and Devon Denihan won in third doubles in a CHSAA semifinal to lead Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart will face St. Francis Prep in the final Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Suffolk Division IV Final.Top-seeded Nadia Smergut of Ross beat teammate and No. 7 Daria Schieferstein in the Suffolk Division IV tennis final, 6-1, 6-1, while fifth-seeded Erica Bundrick (Mattituck) defeated No. 3 Jordan Dubin (Southampton), 6-0, 2-6, 6-1, in the consolation match. In doubles, West Hampton's top-seeded duo of Diana Vamvakitis and Jamie Hann beat No. 2 Alex Fulham and Erica Silich (East Hampton), 6-1, 6-0. Third-seeded Remy Kneski and Brigid Connors (West Hampton) topped No. 4 Katie Dallon and Shannon Grodske (Rocky Point), 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Suffolk Division II Final 0.No. 1 Samantha Elgort (Hills East) beat second-seeded Sara Finger (Smithtown East), 6-0, 6-2. In the consolation match No. 3 Jessica Nowak (Glenn) topped fourth-seeded Heather Carroll (Hauppaugue), 6-2, 5-7, 6-2. In the doubles final, No. 3 Carly Siegel and Zenat Rashidzada (Hills West) beat No. 1 Bridget and Mickey Harding (Northport), 6-3, 6-4, while No. 4 Annie Yueh and Christine Rienzo (Hauppauge) defeated No. 7 Sarah Han and Malini Desai (Hills West), 6-4, 6-1 in the consolation match.
