Derek Roper singled in Jared Liepa in the eighth inning to walk it off for host Sachem North in a 2-1 win over Sachem East in a Suffolk League II baseball game in Lake Ronkonkoma on Monday night. Liepa pitched a scoreless top of the eighth before hitting a double in the bottom half.

John Prinzivalli hit an infield RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to tie it.

Tyler Raynor pitched 6 2⁄3 innings with no earned runs allowed for Sachem East (8-10).

Riverhead 5, Patchogue-Medford 4: Matt Zambriski struck out 10 and walked just one over 6 1⁄3 innings to earn the win for Riverhead (9-8-1) against Patchogue-Medford (10-7) in Suffolk I. Zambriski added two hits and an RBI. Connor Downey added two hits and Kyle Hubbard drove in two runs.

Wheatley 3, Seaford 2: Krish Patel allowed one earned run and five hits and struck out 10 in a complete game to lead Wheatley (12-7) over Seaford (9-10) in Nassau A. PJ O’Connor drove in a run.

Carle Place 4, Cold Spring Harbor 2: Michael Seglin hit a two-out, two-run single in the top of the seventh to give Carle Place (14-4) the lead for good in Nassau B.

Tommy Schoch pitched a complete game and struck out five batters to earn the win. Mac Fairbarin went 2-for-3 for Cold Spring Harbor (11-7).

Malverne 16, Friends Academy 4: Thomas Brown went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and struck out five over 4 2⁄3 innings, allowing one earned run, in Nassau B to lead Malverne (1-17) to its first win since May 9, 2024. Brian Major went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and four RBIs.

MacArthur 4, Bethpage 2: Brian Lynch had two RBIs to lead No. 6 MacArthur past No. 10 Bethpage in the first round of the Nassau Class AA playoffs. Colby Grzelaczyk struck out nine over seven innings to earn the win.

MacArthur (12-7) will visit No.  3 Bellmore JFK on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Bethpage (10-12) will visit Bellmore JFK for an elimination game on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Calhoun 3, Manhasset 2: Jack Zagariello pitched a complete game with six strikeouts to lead No. 8 Calhoun past No. 12 Manhasset in the first round of the Nassau Class AA playoffs.

Calhoun (12-5) will visit No. 1 Garden City on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Manhasset (6-13-1) will visit Garden City for an elimination game on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Mepham 11, Division 4: Teagan Cardona went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs to lead No. 9 Mepham past No. 5 Division in the first round of the Nassau Class AA playoffs.

Mepham (15-6) will visit No. 4 South Side on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Division (15-6) will visit South Side for an elimination game on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

SOFTBALL

Commack 1, North Babylon 0: Kate Schweitzer hurled a four-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead Commack (15-3) in Suffolk II. Madison Johnston went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run. Karli Gotta struck out six over seven innings for North Babylon (7-11).

Sachem East 7, Brentwood 3: Angelina Cornand struck out 14 over seven innings to lead Sachem East (13-3) in Suffolk I. Emily Beebe went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Lilly Vittorato and Jerelin Bello each hit a home run for Brentwood (2-13).

BOYS LACROSSE

Great Neck South 16, Clarke 12: Jaxon Bier scored six goals and Ben Halpern totaled three goals and five assists for Great Neck South (9-6) in Nassau IV. Liam Morgan led Clarke (11-4) with four goals.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Commack 10, Sachem North 8: Samantha Benedict had three goals and an assist to lead Commack (7-8) in Suffolk I. Ashley Arizonis totaled her 100th varsity point by scoring three goals. Leah Cohen added a goal and two assists. Riley LaRocca had two goals and two assists for Sachem North (8-6).

FLAG FOOTBALL

Wyandanch 20, Smithtown Christian 14: Nyasia Murphy threw a 20-yard touchdown to Danessa Gundy in the first overtime period to win the game for Wyandanch (9-3) against Smithtown Christian (2-10) in Suffolk II.

Bay Shore 13, North Babylon 7: Kimora Pearson threw a 21-yard touchdown to Leahlani Ellis with 7:30 remaining to give Bay Shore (2-10) the lead for good in Suffolk I. Priscilla Borders recorded seven flag pulls and two sacks.

Madison Murdocco completed a 35-yard touchdown pass to Madison Snee for North Babylon (4-7).

GIRLS BADMINTON

Syosset 7, Wheatley 0: Chloe Wu and Emma Gau defeated Claire Liu and Fiona Ly at third doubles, 21-12, 21-10, to lead No. 4 Syosset past No. 13 Wheatley in the first round of the Nassau playoffs. Syosset (9-7) will host the winner of No. 5 Herricks/No. 12 Division for the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Wheatley finished 13-2.
