Ryan Banaciski had three goals and five assists as St. John the Baptist defeated Monsignor Farrell, 14-2, in the CHSAA ‘A’ boys lacrosse state final on Tuesday. Nick Limberg added three goals. Brayden Mangan, Matt Rotolo and Nick Reffi each scored two goals for St. John the Baptist (16-4).


Islip 3, Bayport-Blue Point 1: Lauren McSweeney struck out 16 in a three-hitter as No. 2 Islip defeated No. 1 Bayport-Blue Point in the loser’s bracket semifinals of the Suffolk Class A playoffs. Grace Ryan went 3-for-4. Bayport-Blue Point finished 20-3.

Islip (20-3) hosts No. 4 Sayville (16-7) at 4 p.m. on Thursday in the loser’s bracket final.

Miller Place 9, Sayville 1: Ava Zicchinelli tossed a two-hitter and went 3-for-4 to lead No. 3 Miller Place over No. 4 Sayville in the Suffolk Class A winner’s bracket final. Sadie Hoffmann went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, Sadie Bryant went 2-for-3 with two runs and Laney Vomero went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Kate Meyer hit a home run for Sayville.

Miller Place (18-4) advances to the Suffolk Class A final at noon on Saturday at the Martha Avenue Complex in Bellport.

West Islip 11, Deer Park 5: Emily Bouros went 4-for-4 — a grand slam and three doubles — and had nine strikeouts in the circle to lead No. 2 West Islip over No. 5 Deer Park in the Suffolk Class AA winner’s bracket final. Alex Gitomer-Dawson went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Alexa Ficalora went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI and Juliet Aguanno went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Jaylene Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Deer Park, which finished 15-7.

West Islip (19-4) advances to the Suffolk Class AA championship at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Martha Avenue Complex in Bellport.

East Islip 5, Smithtown West 1: Caitlin Ropiak allowed one run and six hits and struck out six to lead No. 3 East Islip over No. 1 Smithtown West in the Suffolk Class AA loser’s bracket semifinals. Reagan O’Hara hit a three-run home run to give East Islip a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning.

Smithtown West finishes 19-3.

East Islip (17-7) hosts No. 5 Deer Park in the Suffolk Class AA loser’s bracket final at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
