Marsico's overtime goal lifts Hills West
Vito Marsico scored the game-winner on an assist from Michael Primiano with two minutes left in the first overtime for Half Hollow Hills West in its 6-5 Division II boys lacrosse victory over visiting Bayport-Blue Point yesterday. Dale Cornetta scored on an assist from Justin Connor with 4:12 to play to tie it at 5 for Hills West (6-5), which trailed 3-1 in the third quarter. Kevin O'Shea led Hills West with two goals and one assist, and Brandon Isaacs made 12 saves. Zach Smith won 9 of 13 faceoffs, including the overtime draw. Middle Country 18, North Babylon 17: Heather Ferchland scored the game-winner with 2:00 left in the second half for Middle Country (8-3) in Division I. Ferchland scored four goals, while Jessica Parker led Middle Country with seven goals, and Brittany Choplain made 18 saves. Bria Hartley led North Babylon (5-7) with nine goals and six assists.
Port Washington 14, Friends Academy 13: Jackie Froccaro scored the winner, her fourth goal of the game, with 11.3 seconds left for Port Washington (12-0-1) in non-league. Her cousin, Alexa Froccaro, who finished with four goals and one assist, scored with 2:10 left in the second half to tie the score at 13. Christina Commons added four goals and one assist. Kelsey Denihan led Friends Academy (6-5) with three goals and one assist.
