1. MASSAPEQUA GIRLS SOCCER

The balanced attack of the defending state champions was on display last week as Hope Breslin, Kristen Bischoff and Skylar Vitiello all scored in a pair of wins. Breslin had two goals in a 5-2 win over Oceanside and Bischoff scored twice in a 3-1 win over Hicksville. Vitiello added a goal in each game as the Chiefs improved to 7-0-1 in Nassau AA-I.

2. SACHEM EAST FIELD HOCKEY

Say this much for the Flaming Arrows' opponents last week: At least they kept the score close. But Sachem East (8-0) continued its march with two more wins, including a 1-0 victory over previously undefeated Ward Melville on Shelby Trentini's goal. The defending L.I. Class A champs have outscored opponents 35-2.

3. ST. ANTHONY'S GIRLS SOCCER

The unbeaten Friars have outscored opponents 25-0 in their last five games. That streak was capped by a 5-0 win over Kellenberg in which Kayla Arestivo scored two goals.

4. MASSAPEQUA BOYS SOCCER

The Chiefs, behind Sean Nealis, have not allowed a goal to a Long Island opponent this season (nine games). Zack Zaia has proved to be very reliable in net for the defending Class AA state champions.

5. ST. ANTHONY'S FOOTBALL

Quarterback Steven Genova continues to lead the Friars, orchestrating a 44-10 pasting of CHSFL rival Chaminade. Genova completed 9 of 13 passes for one score and ran for another TD. Halfback Jordan Gowins rushed for 142 yards and a score on 13 carries. He added a 17-yard TD reception.

6. CONNETQUOT FOOTBALL

Quarterback Jack Cassidy completed 13 of 20 passes for 190 yards and two scores in a 35-12 win over Brentwood as the top-ranked T-Birds improved to 4-0. They will travel to Longwood on Saturday at 4 p.m. for a showdown of unbeatens.

7. LONGWOOD FOOTBALL

The Lions continue to make noise in Class I. Isaiah White rushed for five touchdowns and 210 yards and added a fumble return for a score as the Lions beat Floyd, 46-6. Longwood will host Connetquot on its Homecoming Day Saturday at 4 p.m.

8. KINGS PARK GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

It took a comeback, and for the first time this season, Kings Park truly was tested. But they responded against rival Eastport-South Manor, rallying to win in five games behind Kathleen Benson's 18 kills and 11 blocks. Kings Park (8-0) extended its league win streak to 55.

9. ST. ANTHONY'S BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

The Friars won the St. Anthony's Invitational at Sunken Meadow. Joseph Tucker was third in 16:56.41, Michael O'Leary was fifth in 17:11 and Matthew Clarke took sixth in 17:15.43.

10. SACHEM NORTH BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Dylan Missry had 19 kills, six digs and three aces to lead Sachem North past Sachem East in straight sets. Sachem North has yet to drop a set this season and has won 22 straight regular-season matches.

On the cusp: Half Hollow Hills East girls tennis, Sachem East girls cross country, St. Anthony's girls soccer.
