McAward, DiSalvo lead GNN past Hewlett
Delia McAward scored on a layup with 21 seconds left to cap the scoring for Great Neck North in a 59-58 win over Hewlett Monday in non-league girls basketball. Sam DiSalvo had 22 points to lead Hewlett. Jackie Behar had 16 points, eight rebounds and four steals and McAward had 10 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Division 41, Uniondale 38: Laura Stuart went 6-for-6 from the foul line and scored her team's final four points to lead Division in non-league. Susan Ballantyne had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Hicksville 48, Oceanside 44: Caitlyn Garger had 20 points, 14 rebounds and six assists for Hicksville.
Westhampton 42, Sayville 30: Kristen Polan had 10 of her 13 points in a 21-16 second half for Westhampton. Junior Sammi Vickers had a career-high 11 points.
Garden City 61, Seaford 40: Kim Ryan had 21 points and freshman Sam Auricchio a career-high 20 points to lead Garden City. Taylor Carpentier had 10 points and eight rebounds and Christina Mangels had 16 rebounds for the Trojans.
Long Island Lutheran 55, St. John the Baptist 38: Staci Barrett had 13 points and seven rebounds, Yuni Sher 14 points and seven rebounds and Boogie Brozoski 10 points and nine assists for Long Island Lutheran on Sunday in the Under Armour Classic at St. John the Baptist.
St. Dominic 50, Brooklyn Collegiate 45: Trailing by four going into the fourth quarter, Julia LoRusso hit two free throws tie the score at 42 and Katie O'Brien (17 points) scored the game's next seven points to put St. Dominic ahead for good Sunday in the Under Armour Classic at St. John the Baptist.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Bethpage 47, Lynbrook 46: Greg Gerber had 16 points and six rebounds, and Mohid Farhadi had 11 points and six steals.
Lawrence Woodmere 62, York Prep 53: Jake Lundenberg had 23 points, including a pair of three-pointers early in the fourth quarter to give Lawrence Woodmere Academy a 56-52 lead in non-league. Trent Parrish had 22 points and 12 rebounds and Rokas Lapsys had 15 points and 14 boards for the Tigers.
Mount Sinai 58, Comsewogue 46: Mike Guzzardi had 17 points, 16 rebounds and eight blocks to lead Mount Sinai in the final of the North Shore Classic. Junior Greg Kopcienski added a career-high 24 points.Valley Stream South 67, Syosset 60: Eighth-grader Dana King had a career-high 24 points and Jeyson Jones also had 24 points to lead Valley Stream South in the first round of the Wantagh tournament. Valley Stream South trailed 16-2 and went on a 24-2 run to take a 26-18 lead after one quarter. Valley Stream South plays the winner of Wantagh-Locust Valley in the final at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Division 2, MacArthur 1: Brandon Soedarmasto rolled a high game of 276 in a 668 series for Division in a 749-635, 768-662, 702-722 win.
Bellmore-Merrick 3, Wantagh 0: Mike Anagnostopoulos bowled 286 in Game 2 of a 644 series to lead Bellmore-Merrick to a 733-715, 893-683, 829-675 win. Tom Bianco bowled a 679 series and Joe Cucinella a 655 series for Bellmore-Merrick.
Islip 3, Harborfields 0: Mike Kovarick rolled 279 in Game 1 of a 740 series for Islip in a 976-713, 1,005-730, 873-705 win.
