Ryan McCarthy shot 1-under 34 on the front nine at Lawrence Country Club Wednesday as South Side topped Lawrence, 9-0, in Nassau Conference V boys golf. The Cyclones (7-0) set a school record with a team score of 179, besting the previous record of 184 set in 2010.

Hewlett 3, Sewanhaka 1: Matt Llinas had 44 assists, David Perkins added eight kills and Tejen Shah finished with seven aces for Hewlett (6-2) in a 25-14, 25-21, 15-25, 25-20 win in Nassau Conference IV. GIRLS volleyball

Miller Place 2, Amityville 1: J.C. Guido scored off an assist from Thomas Liantonio with nine minutes left in the first half to give Miller Place (3-1-2) the win in Suffolk League VI.

Carey/Sewanhaka 2, Herricks 1: Elvis Aguiluz scored from 18 yards with two minutes left to win it for Carey (1-3-2) in Nassau Conference AA-III. Jeff Castaneda scored on a feed from Chris Maroczko to tie it for Carey/Sewanhaka with under a minute left in the first half. GIRLS SOCCER

West Islip 2, Smithtown West 1: Nikki Perniciaro scored the game-winning goal with 37 seconds left for West Islip (6-0) in Suffolk League III. Shannon Cronin made five saves, including a stop on a penalty kick, and Cassidy Rollman tied the score with 3:10 remaining in the first half for West Islip.

Bellport 1, Huntington 0: Aaliayh Busby scored off an assist from Emily Sears with five minutes left in double overtime to win it for Bellport (1-5) in League IV.
